Review Group discussion

This is a general group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
If you don’t agree to that tell me now so that I can find another member who will do so.
There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

it isn't available to have reviews added Darrell, you can't review a book in pre-order. This group does not accept ARC.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to accept PDF. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

I have noticed I rated Dan Buri's book Pieces of Pottery though I did not post a review. I read his book from some other platform.

Is it ok if I give him my book? Sounds awkward.

HELP!
I have just tried to read Doug Eggleston's book "Music Theory For Every Guitarist".
I have to admit that I only just managed to master the triangle in the school band over sixty years ago, so when I say that I have read some of Einstein’s works and they made slightly more sense to me than this excellently produced book it is not a criticism.
What should I do? I didn't understand anything. Music makes no sense to me except I love listening to it.
I am just unable to write a review, except to say it appears to be very informative and well produced. Sorry Doug I can't say more.

No worries! Actually, for the type of book that it is, I really look for "beginner" opinions as much as "expert" ones. My hope is that you understood some of it and learned at least a few new things. I meant for it to be written in a way that just about anyone can at least get started if they want to.

That's fine Allie, it's not who reviews that's important (as long as the non-reciprocal rule is applied) but that the reviews are posted here on the thread so I can mark them off.
