Alright, I'll start things off. I was diagnosed with Bipolar I with psychotic features in 2008, and I wrote a memoir to explore its causes.
The best answer I have is that there was a perfect storm of stressors that came together to ignite my first mania. Childhood trauma most likely played a large role.
I'm assuming you have been diagnosed bipolar? I would like to know your take. What do you think are the causes of your disorder? (Obviously, we can assume the genetic component. I'm thinking more along the lines of perhaps events that have shaped the sense of self, identity, etc.)
