Alexis | Booklover101 ♡ What was your favorite scene from the HP books that didn't make it into the movie?

Mine is probably the singing Valentine Ginny gave Harry :)

Lauren Winch | 18 comments I thought it was a shame the films didn't go into much detail about Harry when he was very little. They did very briefly in the prisoner of askaban when Harry is trying to fight the bogart with happy thoughts, and he thinks about being with his parents. But I think it's in the book of the order of the phoenix that Harry finds a photo of him riding like a toy broom that Serius gave him, which I thought was so sweet :)

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 833 comments One of mine is the scene in Spinner's End in HBP - while I adore the film scene I wish they stuck more to book Narcissa's character - she was a touch more manic in the books - and it would've been amazing to see Severus and Bellatrix banter more.

Alexis | Booklover101 ♡ Lauren - Couldn't agree more :) I would have also loved it if the film showed more of Harry's childhood.
Brooklyn - Love your response! I also love that scene!!!

Meghan | 6 comments Definitely the Harry and Voldemort's big talk/ Voldemort's proper death scene at the very end, where Harry explains how Voldemort screwed up

Alexis | Booklover101 ♡ Meghan - Totally agree :) Voldemort definitely got what he deserved.

Gwen Hendrickson | 72 comments When Fred*sob* and George leave and there his last words to peeves was "Give her hell from us Peeves"

I thinks Georges last words to Fred should have been just two whispered words " Mischief Managed" would have been so sad I would gave cried.

If you guys dont already have one you should read harry potter fanfic on Quotev.com

Lauren Winch | 18 comments I forgot about Peeves! Oh my gosh they should have definitely included him, he was hilarious!

Alexis | Booklover101 ♡ Gwen - Definitely agree! Fred's death was tremendously sad.
Lauren - Haha, you can't forget Peeves!!!

Meghan | 6 comments Also, I love in the last book when Harry defends Mcgonagall in Ravenclaw tower. The scene is kiond of in the movie but not the same as the book

When I first watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, for some reason I was really excited about seeing Lee Jordan's tarantula at Platform 9 3/4. I'm still disappointed, it's an unimportant scene but I would have liked to see it.

message 19: by Grant (new)

Grant Hubert (spatialfx) | 1 comments Voldemort's story for sure regarding the Gaunts. I find it incredibly interesting how Dumbledore came across the Resurrection Stone and how that ties into the Gaunt/Riddle storyline. Would have been fun to see.

message 20: by Abi (new)

Abi | 3 comments Just finished my re-reading of the series, and I think it's a real shame they missed the last long dialogue between Voldemort and Harry; it's so important to the whole story. I also think Ron's character goes through a lot during the Order of the Phoenix which is missed completely in the film and I would have liked to have seen more of it. JKR gave so much wonderful material in the books I'm not sure the film franchise could have improved much; I think they were great adaptations. I often encourage people to read the books and learn more about the story if they like the films.

Padfoot713 | 4 comments My favorite scene that was not in the movies was probably after Sirius died, and Harry was in Dumbledore's office. I feel that Harry's reaction to Sirius' death was much greater in the books that in the movies. I feel that it was have made me very emotional to watch Harry explode at Dumbledore, and destroy things in his office, and would have shown the relationship more to the people who just watched the movies. But, I loved the movies anyway!

message 22: by Nora (new)

Nora (effervescentphilanthropist) Basically any Tonks/Remus scene since their lack of development in the movies was one of the biggest drawbacks for me.

message 23: by Tarinee (new)

Tarinee The most i miss is gryffindor winning the quidditch cup in harry potter and prisoner of azkaban.(officially griffindor at pottermore.com,so its about #HOUSE PRIDE) and also when harry kissed Ginny for the first time after winning the quidditch cup in book 6.i would have loved to see Ron,s expression
'WELL IF YOU MUST" .Dean's too .they changed it in the movie and i loved the book-version more.

message 24: by Matt (new)

Matt Wells | 32 comments It's too bad Peeve's never made it into the films.

message 25: by purplebookworm (new)

purplebookworm (puplebookworm) Omg yes!!!!! WHERE WAS PEEVES!!!

message 26: by Fanny (new)

Fanny Ibidou | 4 comments Harry Ginnys first kiss in the book was sooo much better than the movies

I wish the could have shown the seen where he was in the hospital and ron told him ginny visited him and he imagined gonny crying over him and professing her undying love

message 27: by hedda (new)

hedda (heddiling) They really simplified the chaos after Fred and George left in the book versus in the movie. That was actually my favorite part of the book, so you can understand my disappointment when they barely showed that. Even one more minute would have done the scenes justice.

message 28: by Nicky (new)

Nicky brierley | 6 comments The whole dursley scenes at the start of book 4, and the lack of house elves in 4 and 5.

message 29: by Laurel (new)

Laurel (laurelpianist) April wrote: "Anything that involves Peeves."

Omg!!! They forgot Peeves! I didn't even realize it at first before you said it!

message 30: by hedda (new)

hedda (heddiling) The Fred & George scenes in the 5th book. You know, like the Umbridge torture and stuff. Quite honestly, that was my favorite part of the book.

message 31: by Gabriela (last edited Jul 31, 2016 04:02AM) (new)

Gabriela | 1 comments Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: the prefect bathroom scene (specific details), great hall scenes (especially with the other two schools), the "big bones" scene with Hagrid and Madame Maxime, and the coed Beauxbatons Academy.

message 32: by Ammar (new)

Ammar Moujood (am__mar__) | 4 comments The scene where Harry goes to ravenclaw tower in deathly hallows. I really wanted to see other house common rooms and all.

message 33: by Reader (new)

Reader The Sphinx scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

message 34: by Pradnya (new)

Pradnya (lost_in_hogwarts) | 7 comments The chapter, flaw in the plan where harry and voldemort circle each other and talk.

message 35: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra Lord | 16 comments The scene from The Order of the Phoenix where Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys are clearing out Grimmauld Place and one of the object that they pass round is the locket. This scene is really good when your rereading the series as you cant help but think its just there!

message 36: by Msvbalaji (new)

Msvbalaji | 2 comments A lot of scenes there so I say a scene from each book.
1. In DH, where harry use Cruciatus Curse on Amycus for spitting on Minerva.
2. In HBP, Dumbledore's funeral.. :'(
3. In OFTP, the whole scene in St.Mungo's hospital where everyone(except harry) comes to know about Nevile's parents and scenes of Gilderoy Lockhart.
4. In GOF, they should have shown Dobby and scene where Harry gave his Triwizard winnings to Weasley Twins.
5. In POA, the whole Marauders Story.
6. In COS, Ginny is not as how they shown in movies. :/
7. In SS, Midnight's Duel. :)

message 37: by Erin (new)

Erin McCarter (erinannmccarter) | 1 comments The Prince's Tale chapter in the 7th book was in the movies (obviously), but it was really poorly done I thought, and they left a lot out. Which made me sad because it was my absolute favorite part! So many tears...

message 38: by Katie (new)

Katie Byers | 1 comments Harry and Ginny's actual first kiss in the party after the quidditch game. Where Romilda was like a tomato and Dean broke the glass in his hand and iT WAS PERFECT

message 39: by Noor (new)

Noor Al-Shanti The miniature swamp and McGonagall telling Peeves that the chandelier "unscrews the other way" from order of the phoenix. The fifth movie really deprived us of all the good stuff! It was like a quick summary of the book!

Also the first chapter of Philosopher's Stone where Uncle Vernon is noticing all the magical things and he thinks he's imagining/tries to explain it away to himself. That stuff was hilarious. And the midnight duel, of course.

And the whole Weasley is our King story.

message 40: by Imogen (new)

Imogen (teabooksandemotions) | 4 comments Tonks and Remus at the end of 6

message 41: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Farshaw | 120 comments During the fight at the DOM, and Harry is scared that Hermione might be dead. After all the CapsLock anger, he finally showed he still had a heart. And hey, what does it tell us that Hermione is there during Harry's two most emotional moments in the series (the other most emotional moment is of course finding his parents' grave.)

Anna ʚɞ {semi-inactive bc uni} Winky, Peeves ( and just more about the ghost overall), more of Dobby and I know This scene is in the longer movie version But I don't own that and I remember When I was younger I Always wanted to See This scene: It's When HP uses the floo powder for the first time and he transfers to a shop in Knockturn Alley where he hides from Malfoy in a closet and Malfoy Almost catches him.
And more about Norbert!!!!

message 44: by Jade (new)

Jade (sourburst) | 21 comments Preach ^

Anna ʚɞ {semi-inactive bc uni} Andddd I would have loved to see the part in book number 4 when Ronald finds the most money using a Niffler in a class with Hagrid. :)

message 46: by Noor (new)

Noor Al-Shanti So true, that Niffler part would have been great to see! Also, I remember something about Lupin giving them an obstacle course as a final exam... or did I imagine that or read it in a fanfic?

message 47: by Kat B 1 (new)

Kat B 1 | 3 comments PEEVES!!!!

message 48: by Julia (new)

Julia | 179 comments Agree with all of these, but the top of my list is Neville visiting his parents at St. Mungo’s. It breaks my heart every time I read it and it reminds us that killing people is not the worst things the Death Eaters do.

Natasha ⚡️ | 9 comments The end battle.... the book version was by far more exciting and thrilling then the movie version.

Natasha ⚡️ | 9 comments Kat B 2 wrote: "PEEVES!!!!"

Brilliant answer as well by the way lol, should of been in the films big time.
