So... I saw Lena do this, and thought that I'd do the same!
This is for my sci-fi book, Broken Reflections. I've been (rarely) posting parts on my blog, and I have a board on pinterest.
At this time, my word count is 46,175, and I started in... July, I think. But I didn't actually work on it 'til November.
There's a little history!! And I hope to get at least 150,000 words out of it. :)

That's awesome, Alyssa!!!! To be honest, I don't think I'd ever get a story to 150k... but we'll see. :P I tend to be a "short and sweet" writer. :P
@C.B. I can't write short for the life of me!! When you did those contest IT WAS SO HARD FOR ME!!!
I can't write short either, Alyssa. I've attempted so many novellas, and they end up turning into companion novels. -_- My second book, World of the Beasts, is 140k while my first ( The Witches' Sleep)is an easy 96k. The only reason WOTB is 140k is because I actually CUT A LOT OUT. If I'm remembering correctly, I think it was originally 165k. I was like, "NO WAY, GOTTA GET RID OF SOME STUFF." I could've easily split it in half and made two books out of one, but I really didn't want to do that.
I'm gonna try to update this the last of every month (but we'll see how long that lasts...)!
I'm at 48,730 words and I'm at 79 pages (I usually have my pages pretty long). And now time for a snippet!!
Day 421
Around ten days ago, we had another child respond with fire. We studied the two, but got nothing new. Later that week, we had someone respond with levitation, and yet another with mind-control. We were ecstatic!
Then last week, two children died, though not like a heart-attack like the first child. It was odd, they just dropped dead. Then we had three more die over the course of the week, making a total of six children lost. Luckily none of them were the ones who had developed abilities.

So February wasn't the best writing-wise. I wrote, like, maybe twice? Yeah...
Anyways, my total word count is 52,731 words and 85 pages. But you don't care about that, do you? Let's do a snippet! (It's not super interesting, but it's nice and lighthearted. :D )
“Sawyer, caref-” Alla cried, but it was to late. I walked straight into a pine tree that had it's branches cut off all the way to just above my head.
“Ouch,” I muttered.
I heard laughing, not ridiculing, but true joy.
I managed a smile. “I guess I should, uh, watch where I'm going.”
“Come on,” Alla said, grabbing my forearm and tugging me gently. “There's something that we want to show you.”
I was about to ask what, but I figured that the answer would be the same as all the other times that I'd asked that question; you'll see.
We weaved in and out of big and small pine trees alike, this time I kept my eyes on where I was going. Alla's steering wasn't great, but it had kept me from tripping over a nearly invisible rock.
We finally slowed to a stop. Alla's hand dropped.
“Ta-da!” she said proudly.
I just nodded and smiled, my eyes furiously searching for what Alla could have been meaning.
“No, silly,” Alla said. She pointed up, and my gaze followed her finger.
Half-way up one of the taller pine trees was a platform. A camouflaged rope ladder led up the tree. Colleen Ada was already climbing up, James not far behind.
Alla turned to me. “You're not scared of heights, are you?”
I shook myself out of my daze. “Nah.”
“Well then, allons-y!” Alla said, covering the short distance to the pine.
I smiled at the reference and followed Alla to the tree. She climbed up expertly, while it took me awhile. I had never climbed a tree or a rope ladder, I had always been a city boy, except when I went to Grandma's house in the country.
“Hurry up, slow pokes!” James called from the platform.
Yep, they were definitely one big family.

I guess that I kind of forgot to post an update the 31st, what with planning for NaNo and all (hahahahahahahah as IF!). But as I said, this month is NaNo, and I'm working on a different project this month... but back to Broken Reflections!
Total word count: 49,772.
It went down, you say? Well, yeah. Kinda. I ended up deleting 8/9 pages I think. Yay me! :P
And, as always, a snippet!!
Excitement filled me and I temporarily forgot about my injured toe. I turned around, and sure enough, a pristine manila folder was laying there on the ground.
I quickly picked it up and opened it to the first page. There were four words printed in a bold font: Clara Sage Holmes; Youth.
Was this the Clara that was down that long, long hallway? If so, why did it say youth on it? I stared dumbfounded at the words.
It took me a couple minutes to do the obvious thing and open the folder. I was scared by what I'd see on the paper.
It looked like a typical list that you'd see at the doctor's office; weight, height, birthday, allergies, and so on and so forth.
I decided that it couldn't be Clara, 'cause the birthday printed on the paper was twelve years ago, and Clara couldn't be older then six. But, yet, with all the weird things I'd seen...
A creak made me jump.
I slammed the folder shut, and spun a full 360. Nothing. I cautiously stepped into the hallway. Still nothing.
Breathing slowly and quietly, I stepped back into the room. I was surprised to see two more folders laying on the floor, right where I had been standing. Did I 'summon' them … or had someone else placed them there?
I shook my head and blocked my mind from any creepy thoughts. No use scaring myself.

Haha, actually, I thought that I'd only written a thousand or so words 'til I added it all up... :)

I always alternate between my different books when writing, so this one has been put aside to simmer for a while. :)
