Busy as a Bee Books: You'll have to go read the description on this one if you're interested. This is the only private group mentioned.
The Ultimate Teen Book Guide Challenge: YA lit challenge based on this amazing book guide
Bookmarks Subscribers: Great if you like the magazine, but great even if you have never heard of the magazine. Check out their website. If you're a book junkie, I would subscribe immediately.
I also strongly recommend (but do not moderate):
Books on the Nightstand w/ the Podcast from iTunes: Ann and Michael discuss themes related to books, specific books themselves, and allow listeners to call in with recommendations and whatnot. They are fantastic. I LOVE the podcast. The group on goodreads is based off of that with all kinds of various threads.
The Seasonal Book Challenge: This is another one that you just have to go read about. I was suckered in by Lisa and Petra, and now it is almost an obsession. Basically, you compete with other members by completing reading tasks that are very fun and creative. Super fun.
YA Reads for Teachers and Other Adults: Another YA lit group, but this one has MUCH more discussion than the one I run. Guided questions, author information, discussions about teaching, etc. round out the group's forum. The moderator of this group and I will be using one same title per month starting in January because we have so many members as part of each group.

1.) Introduce yourself!
2.) Create your own thread to journal about what you're reading, your thoughts, your ratings, whatever. How you set it up is up to you. Make sure your name is somewhere in the thread title.
3.) Create a ticker to keep track of the number of books you have read. Make sure your name is somewhere in the ticker title.
4.) Read as many of the books as possible! It is a challenge, so try to read even the books that don't interest you. There are many on the list that I am not looking forward to much, but I will read them anyways. Except Dune. I couldn't do it.
5.) Discuss! Get involved with each novel's specific thread. You can even just post your review if you'd like. Feel free to throw in some discussion questions. If you're lazy like me, find them online!
6.) Spread the word! We take anyone and everyone who loves books and wants to read what has been deemed some of the "best" in lit. New members that want to be active are always welcome!
