Feel free to ask a question about Rosie's story (Rosie stars in the Vault of Dreamers series), the Birthmarked trilogy, writing, reading or anything. I am so thrilled about The Rule of Mirrors coming out soon!

Thanks, Kayl! I'm excited, too. I had so many cool discoveries writing Rule of Mirrors. I had a chance to think about how closely our personalities are formed by our experiences and bodies. Rosie finds her consciousness split in two. She struggles to become whole and get revenge.

Ariel Lynn (fangirlgeek) | 7 comments I'm super hyped to see where Rosie's story goes. I got so attached to her character while reading and the ending of the book left me wanting answers. I can't wait to finally get the answers I have been waiting for!

Thanks, Ariel! I think book 2 answers some questions and sets up some more. I try to think of each book as its own complete story, but in a series, I have layers unfolding to work with, too. I don't have the entire story arc mapped out before I begin, so writing each book involves a lot of discovery for me. It keeps me surprised, you know?

message 11: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Lynn (fangirlgeek) | 7 comments I completely understand what you mean. I am currently writing my own book, and I sorta already know what I want the second one to be like, but I know it's going to take on a story of its own. (Which is what I believe in anyway since I don't really care for outlining.) And, though it's taking place in the same world with the same characters, the journey itself will be completely new. And that's where the excitement begins.

We are so alike in our processes. I find that reassuring. Usually, the more I talk to other writers, the more I find we all do it different ways and every process is okay as long as it works. That permission feels good, and yet, it's also nice to hear you are wandering around in this fog of uncertainty and discovery, too. Good luck with your writing.

I'm in shock that it's tomorrow, frankly. The date seemed so far away for so long that I half convinced myself it would never come. I didn't want to fret. I'm also far from home, so I'm not having a launch at my usual local bookstore which feels different, too. It doesn't feel quite real, but I hope it will tomorrow. Thanks for celebrating with me, Tiffini. :)

Ariel Lynn (fangirlgeek) | 7 comments I agree with what you said about how talking to other writers is helpful. It makes me feel as if I am not completely alone in my chaos and in my dark times it makes me realize that there are plenty of others who go through the same thing. It's kind of like having a support group that you don't have to talk to in order to understand them. And thank you!

message 16: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Lynn (fangirlgeek) | 7 comments Also,
I am really glad that our writing process is similar because I know mine doesn't have much stability, it's mainly wherever my characters take me that I go, and that's scary. So I am glad that I am not alone in the uncertainty, excitement, stress, and amazement that involves writing. It is majorly reassuring.

You have described it aptly. Later, though, to go from that chaos and uncertainty into the time of revision when ideas gradually crystalize is so deeply satisfying. We just need to have faith in ourselves. So hard to do! Keep going, Ariel. You will certainly get where you need to go with your work.
