Hey everybody.

Sorry about the delay in responding to everyone who's joined. I've been largely absent from the interwebs for awhile, because my father-in-law had a heart attack on Christmas Day, had surgery, and then there were lots of hospital visits for about a month. Then I've been sick with an awful cold for 12 days, so....life has been in turmoil.

But I'm so glad to see you all here, and I'll be popping back in soon to respond to threads and get some fun stuff started soon! Hope your 2016 is off to a good start.

Wendy,
So sorry to hear about your father in law! Hope he is doing much better now. That is a lot to handle over the holidays and then now being ill. I hope you feel better soon--take it easy!!

Thank you, Katie. He's doing okay for now, and we're crossing our fingers that he'll continue to have a good recovery.

I'm finally starting to feel like a human being again--which is good, since I've been itching to do things here! More soon. :)

Truely hope your father-in-law is doing much better and has a speedy recovery Wendy. I'm also glad to see that your cold seems to be easing up somewhat and you're able to do the things you enjoy again.

Oh goodness, I never responded to you, Brenda! :( I'm so sorry. I read it as soon as you posted, but I missed commenting somehow.

Thank you very much, he seems to be doing well. And after FIVE weeks, I finally recovered fully about a week ago. So just regular old busy atm. ;)

A quick note to let you know that I asked the lovely Katie if she would act as a moderator for the group as well--and she graciously said yes!

I've known Katie online for a few years now, and she shares my undying love for children's lit. I finally met her last year at ALA, and we hit it off even more, so I'm thrilled she'll be welcoming everyone here and you all have a second person you can go to with questions.

She also has beautiful Megan Follows-as-Anne-of-Green Gables hair that I envy mightily, but I'll let that slide.

Thanks, Brenda!

And thanks, Wendy, for the lovely words--I'm thrilled to be a moderator in the group! And meeting you at ALA last summer was a definitely one of the highlights.

It's funny--I was just telling someone today one of my life goals is to collect as many copies of Anne of Green Gables as possible so love your reference to Anne. I'll take it! :D

Trisha Smith | 30 comments Ah, that sounds amazing!! I think I read them all when I was younger, but could use another reading of them at some point (or two or three!!) I just finished reading the first one with my daughter a month or so ago and it brought back so many fond memories!!

message 11: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie I just wanted to share some good news. I have one grandson, Flint, ages five. On April 4 my younger daughter had a baby girl, Rachel. My older daughter, Flint's mom, is having a lot of fun buying clothes for girls.

Brenda | 82 comments Rosemarie - congratulations! A boy and girl grandchild to share books with, such fun. All the best.

message 13: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie Thanks. Both my daughters are readers too, so we are all going to have reading together.

Please note: spam of any kind will not be tolerated. There's a difference between sharing information about a bookish activity/thing other members of this group may genuinely be interested in and people who only join to promote his/her own book, etc.

I don't mind if regular, active members judiciously share their Etsy shops or invite the group to off-group activities--perhaps we should have a separate promo thread?

Also, let's keep this thread specifically for Kindred Spirits business updates so it remains an easy point of reference for things that may directly affect the group. Everything else can be shared in general chat! Thanks.
