Sarah (sekaplan) This book was published officially two days ago. I was lucky enough to borrow a ARC from a friend who got it from TOR.com, so thanks to them both. I really loved this book. It was like a a lovely flower or onion with layer upon layer slowly revealing itself as it gets bigger. Patricia and Laurence's bound is what grounds the story and makes it relatable. And the best, most indestructible friends often fight and have to take steps back from one another to grow alone, so they can come back together stronger. The magic and sci-fi elements are most clear in the second half of the book, when the protagonists are older and fully able to understand what amazing things are happening around them and how they influence things. And I love the concept of the Caddy so much, I want one - I hope, like other sci-fi elements from literature that eventually showed up in the real world, that something like this is in the works. I will definitely be reading more by Charlie Jane Anders.
