Ann (annrumsey) | 16929 comments This post reminds what a good series can mean and makes me long for a series book on my currently reading shelf, I have been on a stand alone trend lately, it is time to get back to some of my favorites. For a while I was diligently playing catch-up, it is time again I think.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9484 comments I'm just the opposite, Ann, most of my reads are series and whenever a new entry into a favorite series surfaces I drop everything else to get to it. After that I go back to my favorite series to keep working through the backlog. And there are a LOT of series. As a result I don't read very many new to me authors, and when I do they are usually something I've learned of here in this group.

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments I pay attention to subjects, locales and genres that are different from my usual reads and are recommended by board members. Rarely have I been disappointed. I'm especially grateful because
I'm sick to death of serial killers.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16929 comments Dan: I hear you snd I have distanced myself from non-stop serial killer themed books in my mix of selected books too. Memoirs and non fiction historical novels have filled some of that bill. I keep meaning to go back and count the World War II themed books I read in 2015.
Some of the stand-alone books have been murder mysteries of course, they are my favorite genre, but the changes in locals and points of view are refreshing. I am sure that is why many of our favorites series authors also write stand-alone books too.
