Hannah-Kate Davis (hannahkate45) | 5 comments I have a very small amount of memories about this book. But here goes.

It is a young reader chapter book. All I remember about it is that the title was some kind of challenge, "you cannot finish this book", "you should not read this", "Do not read to the end", something like that.

It was about a boy who was either lost or looking for his father, in a mansion or a library or a museum, some large dark spooky building by himself. I also remember that the front cover was dark, brown, like a door or book shelf.

I read this book at the same time as "The Running Man" by Michael Gerard Bauer, which could mean it's author has a name from the beginning of the alphabet (I'm terrible for doing that, getting two book from a close together section) - I am also pretty sure I read it in about 2006 or 2007, which means its older than that.

Any help at all would be appreciated, I've been hunting for it for years now.

Hannah-Kate, what does the boy see or encounter in this building? What makes it spooky/creepy/scary?

What's the genre - mostly mystery/thriller, horror, fantasy/paranormal, etc.?

I believe it was a fantasy, maybe thriller type. I think I remember that the building may have been magical, changing & moving around him. or something. He was just searching a lot. I remember there was a long hallway with lots of locked rooms.

But I really don't remember much more, I guess that's why I haven't found it yet.

Or maybe I am hunting for something my memory has changed over the years. I bet if I find it, it won't be anything like I think it is..

Hannah-Kate Davis (hannahkate45) | 5 comments Not 100% ruled them out, but reading the story summary never quite seemed that they were the ones I was looking for. Perhaps I need to read the books to check..

Here's a Google Books preview of The Name of This Book Is Secret (book 1 of the "Secret" series) by Pseudonymous Bosch - Cat's suggestion:

https://books.google.com/books?id=tC9... There are different cover images. The first page of each chapter has a distinctive black-and-white illustration. The first page: "WARNING: Do not read beyond this point!"

Titles in the series include:
- If You're Reading This, It's Too Late
- This Book Is Not Good for You
- You Have to Stop This

Hannah-Kate Davis (hannahkate45) | 5 comments Thank you, I hope to borrow this book from my local library once we are allowed outside again to see if it could be the one.
It does seem to fit the few things I remembered about the book...
Here's hoping
