Glad you enjoyed it! This was my first Marsh when I was thirteen. She still has a special place in my heart nearly thirty yesrs later. I think Sonia is killed mainly becuase of the influence of drugs - coupled with the perpetrator's complete amorality and focus on art. The earlie books are good, but this is where she really hits the Alleyn stride and begins to glow with that otherworldly light all really great authors have. Enjoy the journey!
