War and Remembrance
question
Searching for a particular WWII novel

I thought I was looking for War and Remembrance but that's not correct. I'm getting old and can't remember the name of a fictitious novel that's set in WWII and I'm hoping someone can help. (yeah, I know there's only thousands of books in that category.) But I do remember bits and pieces that might jog someone's memory. The author touched on :
-the battle at Midway in detail
-the capture of a Japanese sub that allowed the U S Navy to crack Japanese codes
- capturing Japan's codes that allowed U S fighters to intercept Yamamoto's plane and shoot him down,
-the Japanese invasion of one the Alaska's islands
I know it's a long shot, but if anyone can help I'll be thankful. I'm trying to help my grandson understand our history better than he now does.
