My name is Malea, and I I dabble in anything and everything writing wise, pertaining to genre, excluding nonfiction, since my life really isn't that interesting. What can you do, right? For the most part though, I write FanFiction most of all, though I'm terrible at finishing or publishing anything that's not a short little one shot.

I pass the torch to you strangers!
It'll be nice to meet you! :D

Clare | 1 comments Hi! It's nice to meet you, Malea! I'm Clare and I'm pretty all across the board in terms of genre too. I tend to enjoy including romance in my stories, but never as the main genre. Sometimes I like to put in supernatural elements or some action or adventure into the mix. I mainly write fanfiction at the moment as well!

No matter what the genre or type of story it is that I'm writing, my main goal is always to portray some insight about human nature or society. I just find those personally juicy and interesting to write. So far, I've mainly been interested in the many effects that prejudices can have on a person and society in general. Or the struggle for justice. I'm also writing a Avatar the Last Airbender/Kpop crossover fanfiction and that one dabbles into nationalism and some of its effects haha. When it comes to reading, though, I'm even more across the board ^_^

It sounds like you have some really interesting writing going on! I love how you mix in the human nature/society insight in your work. I myself involve more romances/people getting over adversity in my writing, the more mountains to climb for my characters the better haha.

It has been forever since I've watched The Last Airbender. Your fic sounds interesting, hope your having fun writing it :D

It's nice to meet you Clare. I hope to hear from you more here in the group! ^^

message 4: by TessaMarie (new)

TessaMarie Beard Hi everyone, my Name is TessaMarie. I write all across the board, except romance, which I suck at. I am however currently working on a novel, kinda of a modern Adaptation of Peter Pan. This is the Prolouge and litle blurb if anyone wants to read them and give me some Feedback.

Blurb:(view spoiler)

Prolouge: (view spoiler)

If you want any other Information about it, feel free to ask me about it, talking about it helps me to expand my ideas

Leo (owlseeyoulater) | 2 comments Hello all, my name is Leo. I as well love to write but never seem to finish. Most of what I write about comes to me in dreams. For some reason I have long narrative dreams that I am rarely 'in' and more like I'm watching a movie (for example, just last night I had a dream about people hiding on a leisure cruise ship set in a world where trees grow from the ocean floor and sprout up on the surface so theres like a forest in the middle of the ocean). My issue always lies in that the story I see and develop is always so long and so detailed that I loose it on the way, I end up stuck on the clothes and the setting and the customs and the characters and who they are that the story doesn't progress. And then I get distracted either by life or other hobbies or even other writing ideas.

I'm Shine and I love writing songs and stories. I have my own fictional world for me and my characters. I was inspired by Marvel movies and SOME parts of Crimson Peak.

message 7: by Randall (new)

Randall | 2 comments Hello! My name is Randall. I write fiction across as many genres as possible so that I can see what (if anything) I do best. Mostly I have written flash fiction and short stories, I did write a shared novel with 4 other authors. The reason I qualify for this group is that before I started on shorter fiction, I began writing a novel. This was about 2 years ago and I still only have about 31 manuscript pages. I keep saying I will get back to it but...

message 8: by LilyCat (new)

LilyCat (lilycat_reads) | 1 comments I'm Lily, and I write random fantasy, but the only things I write I actually send out to contests are realistic fiction and personal narratives.

message 9: by Randall (new)

Randall | 2 comments Hi, Lily.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm Angel and I write fantasy.

message 11: by Eris (new)

Eris December (sirion) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Eris. The genres that I write most in are young adult (that's kind of a given) and fantasy. I just LOVE to get out of the reality that I am stuck in and imagine a world where the darkest things can happen.

My only problem is that once I have written a novel, and I go back to edit, I can never seem to be satisfied with my draft. Hence why I'm stuck in the never-ending process of re-writing.

message 12: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rlacy) | 5 comments Hi All! I'm Rebecca and I write whatever strikes my fancy. I love unexpected endings. Genre matters less. I have 2 books I'm pretending to write. One is historical fiction and the other is a little fantasy mixed with chick-lit. The second is complete, but I don't like it, so I plan to rewrite. Oh, and I also co-authored a leadership book based on Alice in Wonderland. It is complete!!

message 13: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle (goodreadscomfrumious_reads) | 1 comments Hey everyone!
I'm Gabrielle, I have a booktube channel called FrumiousReads and I tend to write a lot of poetry! I try every once in a while to write longer pieces of fiction but generally I just never seem to be able to finish. I'm really excited to meet and get to know all of you! :D

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome you two!!

message 16: by Mette (new)

Mette | 1 comments I love writing fiction. I love reading books...but would love love love to publish my own books..I think the problem is that I dont write close to enough... I'm also a part of http://www.lifeofwriters.com/home/index A site for all writers to communicate, there is a blog, book reviews and selfpublished authors can upload a synopsis and cover of their books. Also there is free writing contest..this months contest is A Writer's Life

Hope to see some of you and if you have any questions, please email admin@lifeofewriters.com

message 17: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rlacy) | 5 comments Hi Mette. I joined Life of Writers about a month ago and entered the contest last month. I hope to get one submitted this month as well.

I interviewed a best-selling author Michelle Gable for an article in Women's Voices Magazine. She has a day job, and writes for an hour every morning or night. Her second book was just launched and she's working on her third (still working full time as well). I love the advice, so I'm trying to write every day for at least an hour. The discipline is paying off.

message 18: by Louise (last edited Mar 09, 2016 07:18AM) (new)

Louise Carlson Stowell My name is Louise Stowell. I write poetry, short stories, and some freelance articles. Lately I've been thinking seriously about chucking the day job to a part time and becoming a freelance writer. I can't say that I am not published, as I have written articles and poetry. I haven't written a book and that is my life long dream!

I have two big problems...one is that there are times I am so excited about writing an experience or idea down that I can't do it...I stare at the page and feel too wound up, too giddy and impatient to get everything down...like a kid excited about getting on the roller coaster when he first steps out of the car at the amusement parking lot. I'm running in all directions and don't want to settle down to get it down.

Another is a fear of becoming obsessive...that if I get too involved with my passion in what I'm writing, I'm afraid of losing myself. It's a constant war within me. Anybody else feel this way? Favorite writing inspiration authors are Anne Lamott, Natalie Goldberg, Stephen King, and Bonnie Friedman.

I wanted to come say hello and welcome to all of you! It looks like the group has a wonderful new assortment of people coming into it, be they veteran writers, newbies and so on and so forth!

I hope you're all having a wonderful time here thus far! :D

Ardent || LoveArdent || Raya (loveardent) Hi everyone! I'm Raya, and I write A LOT of Fantasy. I'm currently working on one fanfiction, but personally I like fantasy and fiction better :) but that's just me.

message 21: by Night Owl (new)

Night Owl Reader (allnightreading) My name is Sarah, and I like realistic fiction. Sometime I add Magical Realism into the mix, but I never write straight up fantasy or high fantasy.

message 22: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (skydivingparrot) | 1 comments I'm Kristin, or Kiki if you prefer that. I write... not nearly enough. I tend to write or have ideas for stories that are supernatural/paranormal in genre. My attention span and available time to devote to writing is pretty limited - I've got Mom duties, a full time course load, and general adult life/work/not letting my family die constraints.

I lately, have been considering (and beginning to do it) writing smaller snippets of these stories in my head. Mostly as a way to try out different scenarios or characters, to decide if I actually like them and want to develop them more, or if they need to cook longer in my noggin. I haven't finished a story in over 10 years, and have barely written more than 50,000 words for creative reasons in that same span of time.

Hopefully being here and interacting with you guys will help me pull myself out of this blasted rut.. or at least enjoy my time in it a little more!

message 23: by Exanimis (new)

Exanimis | 10 comments Hi I'm Exanimis or Ex, I have always disliked my real name so I will not post it here. I call myself a storyteller, it's something I think I am good at however, I write infrequently and horribly. I mostly tell sci-fi stories.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Selena. I write fantasy, romance and young adult. I lack inspiration, so I hardly finish anything I work on. :(

message 25: by Leatha (last edited Apr 20, 2016 07:35AM) (new)

Leatha Archer | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Leatha and I'm a newbie at writing. I've taken a couple of courses. Currently writing two mystery novels and a memoir. Not sure if they would be considered "Good" reads but I'm enjoying the writing of them. I'm not sure if I belong here. I'm a senior citizen and the age difference may scare others.

message 26: by Marieke (new)

Marieke van Mil (mariekevanmil) Hi guys!

I'm Marieke! I've been writing since I was 12, but so far haven't finished a book yet (although I am planning to, haha). I blog on my website www.mariekemills.com and I make Youtube videos where I talk about books!

I mostly write fantasy stories, because I really love reading them. For those of you who do this too, I recently discovered the lectures by Brandon Sanderson, they are really very helpful, especially if you feel stuck, you can implement these writing techniques. Write about dragons published them on Youtube, so you can watch them for free.

I just talked about this group in one of my videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSVlP.... This group definitely should have more members (also because the title is just brilliant).

If anyone wants to chat about writing, feel free to send me a message. I'd love to share and hear about writing experiences and I think we could really help each other in many ways (maybe finally get that damn book on paper, haha :P!).

message 27: by Leatha (new)

Leatha Archer | 3 comments I find myself writing in my mind and as a result I have so many books started, I don't know what I'll do these books that are in my mind. Anybody have similar situation?

message 28: by Exanimis (new)

Exanimis | 10 comments Hello and welcome Marieke ( I like that name :))
Leatha, all of my stories are like that, they all start in my mind. I work out all the details, all the events that have to take place. Like using index cards I place the info in chapters and only then, after I have it all set in order do I actually start writing.

message 29: by Leatha (new)

Leatha Archer | 3 comments Thanks, Exanimis. Just took a great class and instructor wanted us to use a journal. I've started that. I just love these stories that are in my head. As a result of the class, I have a good start on a children's book. I think these mental books are getting in the way of completing this book.
Leatha

message 30: by Marieke (new)

Marieke van Mil (mariekevanmil) Thanks, Exanimis. It's a Dutch name :). I couldn't agree more with you. For me I definitely have to outline all the events beforehand as well. I've tried just starting and seeing where my writing goes, but it doesn't work for me. I can't wrap my head around the events and the plot anymore if I don't outline and note down the details.

message 31: by Exanimis (last edited Apr 26, 2016 04:54PM) (new)

Exanimis | 10 comments Hello Madison and welcome. I tried fanfiction once, I wrote an episode of Star Trek the next generation but never sent it in lol.
