Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments Welcome, welcome to King Bewilliam’s bewildering world. Venture near, have no fear. Should dragons approach, the king, his bold knights, and brave ladies will spring to your defense. King Bewilliam is no slouch in the dragon-slaying department.

No, it’s not scaly beasts that cause the king so much grief, although they abound in The Bewildering Adventures of King Bewilliam epic #Fantasy series. Medieval mettle battles curiously modern monsters—divorce, career displacement, post-traumatic stress disorder, parenting, the nature of leadership, the morality of war—in acclaimed, award-winning tales of loss, recovery ... and hope.

One of the king’s vassals observes: “Misfortune can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Seeking a remedy, trying to make things right again, sometimes puts us on a path that we might not have taken. We learn something about ourselves that we might not have otherwise. Discover a hidden strength, a greater capacity for love or compassion.”

Reduced from riches to rags, King Bewilliam battles his way to redemption (and every dragon in between), rediscovering and reinventing himself in the process.

Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments SCHEDULE OF APPEARANCE (all times are Central Time)
I'll emerge from my writer cave and be on hand throughout B2BYCON. I'm a lark, not a night owl, so I'll be here as early as 5:30 a.m. but after 5 p.m., not so much.
I'll be on hand most of the three days but I will have step away from the booth:

Friday, Aug. 8, 7-9 a.m. If I don't go to fitness class my trainer will make me do double Burpees on Monday.

Saturday, Aug. 9., 9 a.m. Join me and Kori Winters for the Back Porch Writer chat on BLAB.
https://blab.im/ba3844bed009431eb7260...
You can just lurk, or you can log on to ask questions and make comments.

Saturday, Aug. 9, 2 to 4 p.m. I have a Friends of the Ellis Memorial Library meeting.

Sunday, Aug. 10, 9 a.m. I'm taking over the B2BCYCON Facebook page. I'll be moderating debates, refereeing contests and giveaways, and revealing all kinds of secrets so come join me over on Facebook.

https://www.facebook.com/events/11160...
I'm also doing a Camp NaNoWriMo writing marathon this month so I may step away from time to time to advance my work in progress.

I hope you've been enjoying the convention today. I certainly have. I've met some fabulous authors and learned a lot. And, I got almost 1K words added to my Camp NaNoWriMo project. I'll see you back at this space tomorrow. Don't forget to catch me first thing in the morning over at Back Porch Writers.

Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments King Bewilliam's tale is the saga of a man who loses everything: his crown, sword, horse, family, wealth, castle, kingdom—even his memory—and seeks to get it back. We all have setbacks in our lives. What do you do? Do you try to reclaim what you lost, try to return to what's familiar? Or is a crisis like this a prompt for you to try something different, take another tack?

Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments Science has shown that reading to kids changes their brain, helping to develop literacy and language skills. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/s...
Do you think this might also be true for adults? Let's see. Get yourself a beverage, a snack, get comfortable, and settle back while Angela Chrysler reads to you. It's part of the B2BCYCON Story Time Tour http://www.angelabchrysler.com/b2bcyc....
On April 8, she'll treat you to an excerpt from The Redoubt The Redoubt (The Bewildering Adventures of King Bewilliam, #4) by Devorah Fox https://youtu.be/tojlpUht7dk
So, wasn't that fun? How do you feel? Refreshed?
And authors, reading your work aloud results in improved writing http://guardianlv.com/2015/12/reading... I'll have a chance to read aloud on Apr. 21 at the Rockport Writers Roundup. If you're in the area, come enjoy a delightful evening in the historic Estelle Stair Gallery with refreshments and genre-spanning selections read by Rockport Writer Group members.

I know the feeling! I'm in several writer groups and have yet to read my fellow members' books.
If you would just put my books on your Goodreads "want to read" shelf that would be swell. And stay in touch. I plan to issue some "mini" reads, perfect for when you're stuck in the doctor's office or waiting for the auto mechanic to finish.

It's interesting. In many fantasy books the dragons are revered, respected, even "good," and sometimes the hero. In the King Bewilliam stories they are monsters to be vanquished. To me they represent the obstacles that block our path. Where did they come from? Who knows, but they have to be overcome if we're to move forward.

Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments King Bewilliam is also not only a revered and respected monarch, he's a dragon slayer of reknown. As he struggles to regain his throne he comes up against a number of monsters: dragons, a wyvern, a kraken, a vicious wild boar, and an ice dragon. What fearsome beast will he battle next? Let’s Build a Monster.

That sounds like something King Bewilliam might encounter on his next adventure which looks like it might include an ocean voyage.

Yes it does. Malignant Needle fanged stingray sound like it is something you don't want to mess with on a good day let alone a bad day. Kinda fits me when I am cranky lol.
Have a great weekend

Devorah Fox (devorahfox) | 40 comments You too, and thanks. Your comment gave me a new insight as to the role monsters play in a fantasy story.
