This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments @ Val: first I thought - Wow that's a though one and the last one 'a war story' won't be it for sure! Than I read the description of The Zookeeper's Wife and somehow it not only jumped to my TBR but also to my Amazon and iTunes watch lists in the hope of a nice deal since there is no German translation and not much hope I can get my library to buy it ;-) Thank you so much, looks like a real gem :-)

message 3: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments I've just posted my selections. I don't really have a theme this month but have picked books from my to-read list with covers that I particularly liked. I'm also trying to clear some of the books that have been on there a while, though have thrown in a couple of newbies too :)

message 4: by Val (new)

Val (valugalde) | 74 comments @Agnieszka there's something with WWII books that makes me want to read them all, i love them! and when i first read that description i knew i had to read it hahaha however i won't be able to get it here so i'll probably also read the kindle version x

@Sophie yours was a very tough choice! I already had Luckiest Girl Alive on my TBR, but had to add Girl Underwater as well after reading the description. I ended up voting for the first one but you can as well choose between the two because I loved them both hahaha

I'm the same way with WWI books.

message 6: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments Haha thanks Val. I felt the same about your list. The Zookeeper's Wife sounded like a great read but I've always had a bit of a fascination with mental health and found Girl, Interrupted a quick but interesting book to read

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Wow a four-way-tie :-) good there is so much time left and some more votes expected.

@ Lisa:
so sweet - I love it the way you put your books together :-)

message 11: by Amber (last edited Feb 12, 2016 09:01AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Looks like Against Their Will: The Secret History of Medical Experimentation on Children in Cold War America

by Guy Adams (Goodreads Author) ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... ) are in the lead for me with 2 and 3 votes each (respectively).

Brenda | 2434 comments My list and my votes are up!

Chelsea, your list caused great angst!!! :-)

message 13: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments So far it looks like Bird Box is winning at the moment, followed by The Book of Lost Things. Can't wait to see the final result!

message 14: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments All my books have votes now, the excitement builds! :)

message 15: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Chelsea - didn't you originally have 5 selections up for March? Now I only see 3. No big deal as already voted.

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments Looks like The Girl In The Ice is going to win by a landslide! I had a feeling. :-)

Sophie, I loved Twisted, too. That's why I have his other books to read!

That's hilarious; I actually thought of you and how those were all choices you would approve of once I posted! :)

Hmmm.... I don't think so? I might have posted something on accident though at one point! lol, sounds just like something I would do!

message 20: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments Thank you everyone for all the votes. You were mostly voting amongst three novels. It was like an all star race between Jack Reacher and Harry Bosch. Harlan Corben's hero was closely racing in third.

Lynn Renee | 1707 comments Just put my votes and selections up.

message 23: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (ylisa7) | 381 comments Amber-I was at the library yesterday scanning book shelves and I saw Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies so of course I had to vote that one since it has been on your list for awhile now.

Brenda and Lynn…I voted the same book for both of you which by the way is a 99 cents deal today on Amazon. The Girl In The Ice

message 24: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments Lynn and I voted for the same book for each other. The title reflects what I feel like right now at -26°F (-32.2°C). I'll bet Lynn feels the same!

Lisa, I had the book preordered at that price. It sure sounds like a bargain, doesn't it?

message 26: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments @ Darkslyrik,

I fear you have to wait. I just can't decide between Room, Missing Pieces & Tin God :-)

message 27: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Love Room!

message 28: by Val (new)

Val (valugalde) | 74 comments I've had it in my tbr list for a while but still hasn't even tried to order it, lol. I might read it this march, since I kinda want to watch the movie but definitely not before reading the novel

message 29: by Darkslyric (new)

Darkslyric | 117 comments @ Agnieszka

No problem I have all on hand so take your time. I definitely want to read them all and I love PIFM because once picked I feel obligated to read it...lol.

Hey, Brenda are you actually living in an area where it is -26? I am in So. California and it is probably going up to 80 today. (Not trying to rub it in, just curious where you are}.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Lynn wrote: "Just put my votes and selections up."

You are not alone. I am freezing along with you guys and an "Extreme weather Alert"
Oh Patricia to be in the sun right now. We are at -36*C with the windchill.Brrrr. But cannot complain as we have had an extremely mild winter. Also it's a long weekend here (Family Day) so we can cuddle up by the fire and relax.

message 34: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Humphrey (suspensethrill) | 129 comments Looks like I have a hefty lead in the choice of I Let You Go! * votes already compared to my other two choices having 3 and 4 votes.

Close to it lol. Walking Otto has been an exercise in trying to keep my fingers from freezing off. Thank goodness in this weather he is usually fine going outside twice a day. The cold doesn't bother him, but the salt products on the sidewalks bother his paws.

The way votes are going The Girl In The Ice is winning by a landslide. Or should I say avalanche.

I'm in central NYS near Syracuse. It did warm up to 1° this afternoon. My husband and I agreed we'd postpone Valentine's Day dinner until it was warmer. We stayed inside all day!

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Melanie, you show that I have voted for two different books. I actually voted for 61 hours. In fact, I looked for another Patricia, but couldn't find one.

message 38: by Melanie (last edited Feb 14, 2016 10:19PM) (new)

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments Oh Patricia I seem to do this every month. I have to switch between screens on the iPad and for some reason I often mix Patricia, Brenda and Perri up...I have no idea why. Sorry!

Ok...all fixed. As I suspected for some reason I turned you into yourself as well as Brenda. I knew it would be Brenda or Perri. You three are stuck together in my brain for some reason.

message 42: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments @Sean - think you've got Lisa and me slightly mixed up. Your choice for me is Rogue Operator, which is actually Lisa's list...

message 43: by Brenda (new)

And now that Sean is mixing up people, at least Melanie isn't alone!

It's a brilliant book, but you should also definitely read Assassin's Apprentice if you get chance. My brother introduced me to the series a couple of years ago and I became hooked (btw, you have 3 votes for it - you haven't added mine! Lol)

message 47: by Kirsten (new)
