Jim Townsend | 11 comments Good morning, team!

I think we need someone named Patrick. ;)

I will be away on vacation from February 20-March 2, 2016. I hope this isn't a problem.

I looked at our spreadsheet and own a book that will satisfy the Draw 2 in our first UNO hand.

Jim

Ora (oeamis) Wow, I have no idea what I will be reading on the 1st yet.
How do you want to do tasks? Most of the time I have a list of books I would like to read and get sidetracked.
I have been reading trying to read longer books this year so it has been taking me longer to read books, however I can find shorter ones if necessary to make sure we finish as many hands as possible.

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 89 comments I'm sure the rules will make sense once we start playing. I understand we can only play one hand at at time. Are we allowed to use a book for hand 2 or 3 that doesn't fit for hand 1, then turn in for points after hand 1 is done? Hope that question makes sense;)

When I played last year, we all pretty much just posted what we were reading/planning to read along with whatever cards the books would fit. Some people would post just one book at a time, some posted several they were planning to get to during the month. Eldarwen and I were captains and we would generally fill in the more difficult cards first and go from there, leaving the wild cards for last since pretty much anything fits for those.

We didn't really worry about finishing the hands in order. As long as everything is done by the end of the month we're good, and Maria Helena and I can move books around at the end if we need to in order to finish up earlier hands and maximize our points. We'll have a sheet to keep track of all of the different options for each book, as well as extra books if we have any. :)

message 29: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I'm a pretty fast reader and can look at some of the harder tasks, just let know if you want me to read for a specific card. I did put down around 250 books because I have been trying to read more books over 400 pages.

I don't plan that far ahead either, but I read mostly series so I'm hoping that will work for our cards.

Denise (kitsune816) | 516 comments I'm going to make us a new tab on the spreadsheet sometime tomorrow, for Maria Helena and I to keep track of all of the books being read/pledged, along with all of the cards they will fit for, and then I will start plugging the books you guys have posted so far into the tab for March!

I'm not usually much of a planner either, but last time I played this game I ended up planning a lot more than usual and pledging several books to try and help cover more difficult cards, etc. I will look through my upcoming books tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Of course, I will end up changing the schedule around half a dozen times, but I can usually just find a different book to fit in the same slot. :)

I'm also going to update one of the reserved posts near the top of the thread with all of the unclaimed cards that we have open. We're going to post that based on card types (for example, if we have 6 of the 5 cards to fill, 4 Reverses, or whatever). That way everyone can tell at a quick glance what we need to fill (and what we may have to find several books for!) ;)

message 36: by ♦Ashley♦ (new)

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 89 comments Sounds like a good plan Denise:)
I went through everyone's read shelf and compared books. I have a list of books I could read for the Reverse cards.
Along with The 5th Wave I'm adding Shutter Island to my March reads.

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
Zero Card: Stand Alone
Two Card: T Character - Teddy Daniels
Six Card: S Title
Reverse: Read by Denise

message 37: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I hope you like the 5th Wave. The 2nd book in the series is a POFM I still need to read this month.

Karla The first couple of weeks, I won't be able to read all that much. I am finishing up a really tough quarter and I have a lot of stuff due. I will make up for it as soon as I finish my last final.
