I also sent friend requests to those of you I wasn't already friends with, so all of your finished books and everything pop up in my news feed. ;)

I think we need someone named Patrick. ;)
I will be away on vacation from February 20-March 2, 2016. I hope this isn't a problem.
I looked at our spreadsheet and own a book that will satisfy the Draw 2 in our first UNO hand.
Jim

How do you want to do tasks? Most of the time I have a list of books I would like to read and get sidetracked.
I have been reading trying to read longer books this year so it has been taking me longer to read books, however I can find shorter ones if necessary to make sure we finish as many hands as possible.

Thanks Karen:-)

Here is my shelf
I have a book I can read for nine. I am not that far into it, so I will take it off of my currently reading shelf and start it over when the game begins.

When I played last year, we all pretty much just posted what we were reading/planning to read along with whatever cards the books would fit. Some people would post just one book at a time, some posted several they were planning to get to during the month. Eldarwen and I were captains and we would generally fill in the more difficult cards first and go from there, leaving the wild cards for last since pretty much anything fits for those.
We didn't really worry about finishing the hands in order. As long as everything is done by the end of the month we're good, and Maria Helena and I can move books around at the end if we need to in order to finish up earlier hands and maximize our points. We'll have a sheet to keep track of all of the different options for each book, as well as extra books if we have any. :)

I will make it priority to read this book the first week of March

The 5th Wave
One Card: setting - Ohio, First in series
Two Card: Title starts with T
Five Card: 5 in title
Six Card: S character: Sammy Sullivan
Eight Card: E character: Evan Walker
Skip: P character: Ben Parish

I don't plan that far ahead either, but I read mostly series so I'm hoping that will work for our cards.

Jim

I'm not usually much of a planner either, but last time I played this game I ended up planning a lot more than usual and pledging several books to try and help cover more difficult cards, etc. I will look through my upcoming books tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Of course, I will end up changing the schedule around half a dozen times, but I can usually just find a different book to fit in the same slot. :)
I'm also going to update one of the reserved posts near the top of the thread with all of the unclaimed cards that we have open. We're going to post that based on card types (for example, if we have 6 of the 5 cards to fill, 4 Reverses, or whatever). That way everyone can tell at a quick glance what we need to fill (and what we may have to find several books for!) ;)

I went through everyone's read shelf and compared books. I have a list of books I could read for the Reverse cards.
Along with The 5th Wave I'm adding Shutter Island to my March reads.

Zero Card: Stand Alone
Two Card: T Character - Teddy Daniels
Six Card: S Title
Reverse: Read by Denise

Thanks Ora! I've been meaning to read it for months, but it keeps getting pushed back.

I read a lot of nonfiction, but I also like classics, children's and adult fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and the occasional horror.
There were several books that I rated 5 out of 5 stars in 2015:
The Pillars of Hercules
Gone with the Wind
The Virginian: A Horseman of the Plains
The Pat Metheny Interviews: The Inner Workings of His Creativity Revealed
Frommer's EasyGuide to Las Vegas 2015
Hotel California: The True-Life Adventures of Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Mitchell, Taylor, Browne, Ronstadt, Geffen, the Eagles, and Their Many Friends
Driving Hungry: A Memoir
National Sunday Law
Only the Thought, of Helplessness
Life in a Whirlwind of Numbers: 26 Years of OCD
