Maggie asks Tully to refer to the "pizza delivery girl" by her name. Her rationale was originally to not use a victim's name to help her disassociate but her perspective changed after the case in Nebraska where she met Timmy Hamilton prior to his abduction. What are your thoughts on this issue?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I think it would be so easy to lose sight of a victim's humanity without his or her name as the reference point. Understandable for the investigators to distance themselves from the pain and agony, but also a possible slippery slope to depersonalization in other ways.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I think the investigators have to distance themselves from much of what they see in these cases. But Maggie certainly wasn't about to distance herself from anything on this case. She has seen first hand what Stuckey can do to real people.

I can understand people in this profession wanting to keep distance this way to preserve their sanity. I also understood how Maggie evolved after what happened in Nebraska. Seems it might be up to the individual as to what works best for them to maintain their sanity and humanity.

Melissa (melissasd) | 194 comments I think all victims should be referred to by their name. They are still people who deserve respect. I agree with Jonetta ... Seems it might be up to the individual as to what works best for them to maintain their sanity and humanity.
