Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) In an effort to get people chatting and active again on our group, let's talk TV. I watch a few series. My son installed Netflex and I've started watching The Originals from the beginning as I missed it. If anyone's watching it - Who Is Your favourite character and why. If not, what is your fav series? I also love The Last Kingdom, based on the books by Bernard Cornwall. Let's get chatting people.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Probably Elijah as he is a bit more 'predictable'. I mean, he's not the one who will go after his siblings for a yes or a no and then complain because his siblings are doing to him what he did to them...As you can see, I'm not a fan of Niklaus. :P

message 3: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Yeah, Elijah is my favourite and I also like Haley the werewolf and I cant stand Marcel. He's a real douche bag. Niklaus is the schemer of all schemers. Would love to visit the French Quarter in New Orleans one day. It looks awesome.

message 4: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments I like Haley. Marcel? Well...he does what he needs to do to survive. I don't know where you're at so I need to be careful with spoilers but with Originals on your butts, it's kind of tricky to walk normally. :P

The thing with that show though is that it starts the Originals are invincible and strong, just so later there's all kinds of stuff and people that can beat them like puppets.

I don't know...I loved the show but by the end of it I was dizzy having rolled my eyes too often. :P

message 5: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) I know what you saying, but hey, at least they cant be killed. I'm in South Africa and we're on Ep 3

message 6: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Small spoiler here...From what you wrote, I doubt you know this yet.

(view spoiler)

message 7: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) I dont mind spoilers. I'm one of those who wants to know who dun it.

message 8: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments haha that brings me back to why I prefer paperbacks over eBooks. It's easier to go check the end. :P

message 9: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Yip, I always do that when I read paperback. So glad I found someone else like me.

message 10: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Speaking of spoilers. I watch stuff on Netflix while most people are current with series so I can't count how many spoilers of Games of Thrones or The Walking Dead I have read.

That's what happens with popular series...

message 11: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Eish, Walking Dead, I despise zombies.

message 12: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments haha Honestly, I'm a bit tired of reading zombie books but I love that TV series.

We also just finished season 4 of Falling Skies. Another great series if you like alien invasion stories of course.

message 13: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Yup do like alien invasion but we dont have Falling Skies yet. Will look out for it.

What about Vikings and The Last Kingdom? I've read the books written by Bernard Cornwall.

message 14: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments I love Vikings. It took me a bit to warm up to the characters. Let's just say that when the series starts they are not very likeable.

Never heard of The Last Kingdom. What's it about?

Did you see The One Hundred? (another sci fi.. a hundred kids are sent back on Earth to see if it's now viable.

We watched so many series with Netflix and our list of to-watch is still a mile long.

message 15: by Riley (new)

Riley Amos Westbrook (sonshinegreene) | 124 comments Tired of reading zombie books? *goes in the corner and cries*
As for television shows, I've been watching a lot of them.
Walking Dead, the 100, Z-nation, House of Cards, Ash vs. Evil Dead, the list goes on.
I really think tv is overtaking movies in the quality department.

message 16: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Oh Riley...Please don't hide!

I'm always wary to start a new zombie book BUT that never stopped me from doing it. The thing is, it can be so easy to follow the same pattern, yet, as it is, not many of the books I've read do so...

In the end, there's just something that pulls me towards them. If you see my list of read and to-read, you'll see I've got plenty on both side. :P

I've got a blank trying to remember what we watched and are watching... hmm Sleepy Hollow is one I remember...I wished there was a way to see all we already watched from Netflix. Grrr

I remember a series with werewolves...I think it had 'bite' in it but I just can't remember... darn chemo brain! Anyway, that was another good series.

O

message 17: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Riley, Riley, come out to play.

The Last Kingdom is about King Edward and his dream of making England into one country, which his son Alfred did later. Urthred of Bebbenburg is the MC, (very yummy) kidnapped by Danes when they over ran his lands. Its full of intrigue and fighting. I really enjoy it. Edward is very religious and Urthred is a pagan who refuses to convert, which of course makes the King mad and the priests (only interested in money and power) outraged. All of Cornwall's books are based on fact and he is a descendant of the Bebbanburgs.

My sons tried to get me to watch the Walking Dead. I watched one episode and that was it for me.

message 18: by Riley (new)

Riley Amos Westbrook (sonshinegreene) | 124 comments That sounds like my mother. Soon as the zombies showed, she was done.
The look on her face when undead started showing up in Game of Thrones, priceless!

message 19: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I LOVED The Last Kingdom - you are right Uhtred is well yummy!
I am also loving Happy Valley and CANNOT WAIT for The 100 tomorrow night. Plus Beowulf - but he is less yummy than Uhtred.

message 20: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) Actually I see the comments about The Originals, I used to watch Vampire Diaries - is Originals an offshoot? If so how did the Originals become vampires - assuming viewers have been told?

message 21: by G.G. (last edited Feb 16, 2016 09:57AM) (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Linda wrote: "Actually I see the comments about The Originals, I used to watch Vampire Diaries - is Originals an offshoot? If so how did the Originals become vampires - assuming viewers have been told?"

Their parents did it. Well it's the mom who was a witch with the help of the father (an x-Viking). And yes, it's an offshoot. You should remember Klaus the hybrid werewolf/vampire that terrorized Carolyn and Tyler for a while? I think Elijah made an apparition or two or three too... well he's an original and it's their and the siblings' story we follow.

@Yolanda, I'll have to look into that (The Last Kingdom)

Other shows...I've watched Beauty and the Beast. While I loved the first season, the second one was blah to me. Enough that I'm not even sure I want to watch anymore...

message 22: by J.S. (new)

J.S. (jsedge) | 356 comments OMG! I had no idea there was a series out of The Last Kingdom. Loved those books. Know what I'm doing tonight now :p

I, too, hate zombies and cannot stand The Walking Dead, though my hubby's obsessed.

Recently, I've been catching up on Once Upon A Time. This is a series I kinda think is cringey terrible but -Dagnammit -it's addictive.

The Shadowhunters is another I'm following. Undecided on my opinion as of yet. It is sticking fairly well to the books, but I read those books so long ago I'm not sure I'm gonna enjoy the story as much now.

Eagerly anticipating more Supernatural, OITNB and GoT.

Anyone watched Making A Murderer? Now that's a series well worth seeing! If anyone has recs of similar, please point me at em :)

message 23: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Rand I don't have a TV or netflix so I recently bought a load of DVDs. Just discovered a new crime drama cauld River that's about a detective who's investigating his partners murder but he's still seeing her ghost.

But that was a British one so only 6 episodes... Now I'm on series 8 of criminal minds.

message 24: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Criminal Mind is a great series...good thing there are not as many serial killers as they seem to want us to believe.

I also loved The Mentalist. LOVE Simon Baker. :P

message 25: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Rand I do like the mentalist but I haven't been keeping up with it, and I can't afford to go buying any more DVDs till I've payed for a new car. :-(

message 26: by Amber (new)

Amber Foxx (amberfoxx) | 270 comments Can I admit what I nerd I am? I watch Jeopardy. None of these series.

message 27: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 172 comments I loved The Mentalist and have all the seasons on DVD. I'm also a huge fan of Doctor Who and Sherlock.

message 28: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I love Doctor Who as well, but I read Peter Capaldi is leaving after next series, apparently some people are suggesting David Tennant could be the first incarnation to return - I would love that as he is my favourite Doc.
Amber, nothing wrong in being a nerd - I like Take me out, and Ninja UK :)

message 29: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) I've watched the 100 and love it. Eagerly looking forward to the next season. @Joanne, you will love the tv series.

message 30: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 172 comments I'm nervous about all the talk about having a female Doctor, which I am dead set against. I'm hoping they won't do that.

message 31: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) Me too Lynne.

message 32: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) Hi G.G. Thanks for the explain of Originals, I remember Klaus and Elijah. When I last watched Klaus had turned nice Stefan bad - a ripper(?)

LOVED The 100 tonight :) Will love Death in Paradise tomorrow :)

message 33: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Havent heard abut Death in Paradise, also not available here

message 34: by Tabitha (new)

Tabitha Vohn Aw, thanks Yolanda for posting a fun topic :)

Currently, I have busted out my DVD set of "My So-Called Life" and am reliving the 90's, which is really funny b/c now that I'm in my thirties, I can relate to the adults but still remember what those teen feelings felt like. Jordan was such a douche!

message 35: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Oh Bitten was the name of the show I couldn't remember.

message 36: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Anyone remembers Moonlight from 2007?

So sad they never made another season...

message 37: by Linda (last edited Feb 19, 2016 08:40AM) (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) Don't remember Moonlight - sounds like a title I would have watched, and I am such a TV addict :) Does anyone remember a series staring Hermione Norris about humans settling on a planet and there were ghosts or something and some of the people weren't 'proper' people, only ran for one series.

message 38: by G.G. (last edited Feb 19, 2016 08:58AM) (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Linda wrote: "Don't remember Moonlight - sounds like a title I would have watched, and I am such a TV addict :) Does anyone remember a series staring Hermione Norris about humans settling on a planet and there w..."

Moonlight was a series about a vampire, Mick St-John, played by Alex O'Loughlin.

I haven't watched the series you're mentioning but it does sound like something I'd love.. I'm going to have to research it. :P

message 39: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) Thanks for the picture but I have no memory, shame he looks cute ;) In return I have remembered my series - Outcasts - it also stared Ashley Walters, Daniel Mays, Eric Mabius and Amy Manson, you can google it. I will google Moonlight.

message 40: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Hmm I checked out Outcasts. I recognized her. I don't recognized the show. I'll have to ask the hubby if we saw it.

It said it was cancelled after one season...if we saw it, hubby will remember. He keeps talking about how many great shows that were discontinued while others so-so are still playing.

(I added it to the Netflix list in case we haven't)

message 41: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Linda wrote: "Thanks for the picture but I have no memory, shame he looks cute ;)..."

Oh my, Alex O'Loughlin was a cutie in that show. He's not as handsome now in Hawaii Five 0. :(

message 42: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Don't watched Outcasts and never heard of Moonlight, probably didnt even make to SA. I also enjoy Bluebloods, Chicago PD, and now there's a new cop series starring JLo. And what about Suits, anyone watching Suits? I love it.

message 43: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Rand I watched suits for the first series but stopped during the second because I could only get it as an illegal download and never got around to going back. It's on my list for when I'm not spending all my money on my car. :-P

message 44: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 1275 comments Mod
Shades of Blue is the series with JLo and its really good. Ray Liotta is also in it as a corrupt captain and boy does he have issues.

message 45: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Eish, Liotta is so evil - like most of our cops in SA. Cant trust them.

message 46: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I googled Moonlight - must have just passed me by, no memory - oh well.
Don't have Shades of Blue here - well not freeview, shame I would probably like it.

message 47: by Yolanda (last edited Feb 23, 2016 03:58AM) (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) I've just got stuck into Continuum. Has anyone seen it?

message 48: by Linda (new)

Linda Dobinson (baspoet) I haven't. Can I ask where you are Yolanda? I am in UK.

message 49: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Ramos (yramosseventhsentinel) Sure, I'm in South Africa and am watching it on Netflix

message 50: by G.G. (new)

I had missed it too. Found this jewel on Netflix. Later I bought a few episodes on iTunes and realized I needed to have the DVD. ;)

I have never watched Shades of blue but I like JLO and love Liotta so I might look into that. (As long as it's on Netflix )
