Post your comments about the Vampire Diaries here. We may have different opinions so be nice and respectful, but most of all... have fun.

Eszter Vágó (readingwiththestars) | 4 comments I'm only watching this show now because of Ian Somerhalder. I think the creators are pulling it too far now. I LOVED the first four seasons, but since then... It's going down a rocky mountain.

message 3: by Natália (new)

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) I agree with Eszter. I used to love this show a lot, but the last two seasons are crazy, and not the good kind. The Originals is faring a lot better, to me. Way more enjoyable to watch. Caroline and Damon are the only things holding me to the show, although I have yet to watch this new season because I can't seem to watch it without Nina. I mean, how can you get rid of the main character of the show after 5 seasons? This is Elena's story from the start and they just get rid of her? I would've been better to finish the show, wrap up Mystic Falls story and continue on with The Originals. But then, that's just my opnion.

Again, though, this is a case of a tv adaptation going into a different (and to me, way more interesting) direction than the books. I read the first two books, but it's not well written, the characters are shallow and there's not much developing and not much happening.

Everyone thinks Twilight kicked off the Vampire YA genre, but The Vampire Diaries came out long before Twilight. I read the first 3 books when they came in the early 90's. I don't really remember what I thought, but I didn't start reading YA again. I re-read them 2 or 3 years ago when I started listening to audiobooks and became interested in YA again.

I watched the first season of TVD a several years ago and then stopped. I remember thinking this is familiar, but until I actually read the credits I didn't know why. Then I tried it again after I read the series again. It was too out there for me so I stopped, but now I started watching for the 3rd time about 2 weeks ago and I'm already on season 4. I don't love it, but I like it. Binge watching makes everything better for me.

The TV adaptation isn't even close to the books. Some characters have the same and it's set in the same town. Elan and Stephan were an item and that's almost all they have in common.

I'm definitely going to start watching the Originals.

G.K. DeRosa | 15 comments I actually love The Vampire Diaries TV show and didn't love the books. I read the books after watching the tv show so maybe that was why. I binge watched the first 5 seasons in a few weeks, I was crazy! I was really worried about Elena leaving the show and it's true I only still watch it for Ian Somerhalder and in hopes that when the series does end, Nina Dobrev will come back to do that final scene. I'm team Delena all the way lol :)

All good thing must come to to and end. Julie Plec from The Vampire Diaries has confirmed that the show will conclude after its next season.

Plec said, “We’ve all discussed it. This is going to be the final season of The Vampire Diaries,” she said to the audience at Comic Con. She added, “we wanted to be the one to tell you guys first.”

To celebrate, The Vampire Diaries released a goodbye video which debut at the panel earlier today. It's almost 9 minutes. It's really good and somewhat emotional too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCnHI...

Julie had said in a previous article that they would like Nina Dobrev to, at a minimum, make an appearance in the last episode. We'll have to wait and see if that happens. Who knows-maybe she'll be back for the entire season. She is currently on the set for the "Flatlinesrs" remake.

The Vampire Diaries will be returning to The CW, October 21 at 8pm.

How do you want TVD to end?

Quirky Omega | 24 comments It had become quite convoluted by the end. A life with no seeming end, staying with the same person seems such an impossibility. Personally, I think they should focus a little more on the internal relationships to show how every one can actually have a possible shot at their HEAs.

"Convoluted" is the perfect word to describe last season. I sometimes had a hard time with the timelines. It's such a mess, HEA's will be a challenge, but they have 22 episodes to try to wrap up.

I only started watching last spring. I binged watched season 1-6 and the first half of last season.

The last two - three seasons have been bizarre so I'm surprised the show lasted this long. I'm glad it did. I don't want it to end. Even though the deaths of Matt and Alaric's loves have really irked me. Alaric has lost three if you include his first wife.

I don't care if Nina returns or if she doesn't. I do want those happy endings, especially for they guys - Matt, Jeremy, Alaric and Stephan. Those four have had unhappy endings so far.

They better not kill off any of the main characters either. I take my Vampire Diaries seriously :) I'll miss Mystic Falls and the gang.

Thanks for sharing the video. It was bitter sweet and I even teared up a little.

JoAnne I love The Originals!

I tried to read the first VD book years ago - before the series. Elena irritated me so much I did not finish it! But I loved the series - mostly because of Damon!

THe last couple of seasons have gotten out of hand and totally ridiculous but I still watch.

I will be surprised if Jeremy comes back because Steven McQueen is now on Chicago Fire.

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) I'm happy it's ending. I should have ended when Nina left. TVD was, from the start, Elena and the Salvatore brothers' story, so to go on without one of the main elements of the show was kinda off for me. Not that I dislike the other characters, but they are not (or weren't) the main focus. The last 3 seasons, even when Nina was on the show, were messy. They had extended the story more than they thought they would and the plots started to become too crazy. I think it's best to wrap the story when it's still interesting and on the high note than drag it on until it's not even recognizable anymore. That's happening with Grey's Anatomy, it happened with Lost and it definitely happened with TVD. I really like the show (the first seasons),the characters, the ships and I'll miss Mystic Falls, but I'm glad its over. I hope they at least get a proper ending for everyone.

Karen (karenlovesya) | 36 comments Thanks for the clip it was fantastic. I'm so sad it is ending. I hope everyone gets a HEA. Aleric needs a happy ending. He has had several love interest die. I'm still mad that they killed the aunt and then Dr. Jo. That sucked!

Someone else said the same thing about Aleric. I hadn't thought about it that way, but it's true. I hope everyone gets a HEA. Maybe there will be another spin off??

I'm glad Jeremy (Steven McQueen) has another job. I wonder if he is related to Steve" McQueen?

Nina Dibrev has been a busy girl since leaving TVD. She is in 3 upcoming movies.

"Flatliners" (filming)

"xXx: Return of Xander Cage" (post-production)

"Crash Pad" (post-production)

I don't believe any of the movies are book adaptations.

This isn't book related...since TVD is ending in 2017, the CW needs to replace it. They decided on another vampire series so they plan to adapt the iconic 1987 horror/comedy movie "The Lost Boys."

The series will be really different from the movie. They want it to air for 7 seasons. Each season would focus on a new decade. The first season will be set in San Francisco in 1967.

I loved the movie. It may or may not actually air since it's still in pre production. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What do you think?

Yes he is Steve's grandson, Chad's son. He looks like his paternal grandmother though.

Whenever Hollywood tries to recreate the 80's, it seems to fail. Maybe because a lot of it was the feelings and the times..... gosh, that makes me sound so old!!

I didn't care much for the last season..it was weird in a this is not the VD way. I still cried at the ending. It was good, but sad and infuriating too.
