Mark Transki | 3 comments Yes i know that I'm too old for this. Going back to school at my age? For what? Anyone who thinks so is wrong. "Learning is something that has no end. At any time of life we can study and learn new things. It's something that does not depend on age. And the learning has several purposes: to increase the cultural baggage, improve professional opportunities and even make an old dream.Jessie Zane Carter

Angela Hobbs | 213 comments Very true - well said! I thinkit is important, though, to view learning as so much more than a narrow definition of academic achievement, otherwise too many people become alienated from the concept of learning. Within this country's draconian regime of educational testing of children (UK kids are the most tested in the world) lies a very narrow view of the purpose of learning. There is so much more pleasure and engagement to be had from a broader based view of learning which encompasses such things as life skills, physical activity, emotional intelligence and well-being.... and more.
Good luck with your learning journey, Mark!

Sue | 319 comments Heard about futurelearn from the library. Lots and lots of free online courses across a wide range. I have looked at shakespeare and irish history which were very interesting. Posting in case anyone not heard of them. Run by universities. My son did an ma at Birmingham and his tutors ran a parallel course (aviation history of some sort).
