Oh, yes, Tyrion is super hilarious. Although I found this particular chapter to be a bit boring. The writing annoyed me at times, especially when Tyrion was "explaining" what Varys actually meant. It just sounded supreficial and out of place. Anyway. I've read on several occasions that Tyrion is GRRM's favourite character, so I hope that means he'll be one of the surviving characters at the end of the book, or at least he'll die at the very end so we'll have the joy of reading his witty comments for a few more books. My fingers are crossed for the former.

thoughts while reading:
I think Tyrion is having a lot of fun rubbing it into Cersei's face that their dad sent him to Kings Landing.
If she doesn't trust them, then why does she NEED them? (re: the other council members)

Loved this chapter!!!! Tyrion has some GREAT one liners on here. He is by far my favorite character!!!!! Well, so far in the series.

I really like Shae and I think she is good for Tyrion. His father should worry more about the moral example of Cersei and Jaime - that is way worse than having a "kept woman". With everything else going on and all the Baratheon bastards running around that apparently people know about and a very successful brothel in town, run by I think one of the council members, who cares who Tyrion sleeps with?

I agree completely. Yeah Shae is the best thing to happen to Tyrion. I think Tywin is such an ass when it comes to his kids. Sleeping with your sibling is waaaaaay worse.

The father probably is not aware of, or is in denial about his kids. Except for he always has it in for Tyrion.

Well, I think Jaime and Cersei are doing their best to hide their relationship from their father, I don't think he's the type of person to just let that slide. However, he's proud enough to not put stock into any rumours that might be lying around about his children and would probably never believe something as prepostrous as this unless one of them admitted to it, or he saw it with his own eyes.

As for Tyrion - I don't think it's about what people would say, I mean, why shouldn't Tyrion sleep with whores? I'm sure 90% of the men in Westeros do so. The thing is, Tyrion is known to have fallen in love with one whore before and if he were to suddenly decide to marry Shae, that would shame his family. Tywin is trying to prevent that from happening. Also, if people found out he cares about her, she could be used against him.

How is Tyrion so sure the incest does exist. Did he catch them or something. I mean he is a smart guy but do we know why he is so certain?

From all we have seen only Bran has (uhghghg) witnessed it. Luckily he is young and doesn't really remember or possibly even understand it.
