I'm looking for some books I read as a kid. Young adult fantasy novels.

One is about 3 girls, they each have a different stone that allows them certain powers and I think they all like the same guy? The cover I remember was bright orange, with one of the stones on it.

The other is about a kingdom in which every once in a while they bring all the young eligible girls to be trained to be the next potential princess. The cover looked asian, almost like a Japanese mountain painting, because it took place in the mountains, the main character used to work in the quarry.

I think i may have found the answer for at least the first one i have a guess for the other one but im not sure.

im writing some of my story atm....and im coming up blank for a word.... and was wondering if you might be able to help me find it?

So basically the word im after is a person that is continually used as an example to a group of people....so kinda like an involuntary assistant....so for eg....if your in a training class or something similar and the teacher continually calls on you and uses u as the punching bag so to speak....whats it called?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.... Its annoying me that i cant work it out

Nah its an involuntary thing....its not a good thing its usually when a teacher or trainer has something against you so they continually pick on u...does that make sense?
