2017 Reading Challenge discussion

This book is set in U.S. and Africa, as the main characters are researching elephants. At first, it was somewhat difficult to get into, but the factual writing about elephants, those amazing creatures, kept me going. The book has a surprise ending, which I didn't see coming. I gained a new awareness aobut the severe threat to wild elephants posed by ivory poachers. These intelligent and surprising animals, who almost certainly exhibit emotions and loyalty, may disappear from the wild in a few generations.

Author is Jodi Picoult; don't know why that didn't post (my first time on this site)

I loved this book. I read it last summer. The ending surprised me. Her books are great, but this is one of my favorites.
