Shannon (scottishshanny) | 5 comments It was a new read for me, but 'A Monster Calls' was amazing.
I don't normally like books where it's main focus is around someone who's sick. Many seem to be overly romanticised, which I don't like.

But A Monster Calls was different. It showed what could be hard truths about what some children actually go through. Connor is a young boy who's single mother has cancer.

Although I'm not maternal, nor do I like the idea of having children. After reading this I told my boyfriend that if we have kids no matter what state us two are in that he has to be there for them.

It's one of the few books I've genuinely felt the characters. I'd recommend it to anyone to read.
The book has made me look at things a little differently.

I watched the film version and I was crying whilst watching it. It has so much meaning to it.
