On this post the moderators will post rules and tips.

Here's our first group tip, about how to stay up-to-date with what other members in the group are chatting about. May I recommend setting up either email notifications (available in a daily digest if you don't want an email every time anyone leaves a comment) or Goodreads alerts when you visit the website?

Here are a few ways to adjust your alerts and notifications:

At the end of each topic, you should find a line of text that says something like "You are following this discussion." Click edit and choose how you'd like to be notified of new comments on that thread.

Or, you can go to your Goodreads account settings, under email, and select how you want to receive group alerts under "group email preferences."

To select email and Goodreads notifications for all the threads, go to the group home page. Find the spot that says "you are a member" and click "edit." At the bottom of the next screen, you should see a line that says "edit group discussion updates." Click on that and you'll be able to chose which topics you would like in a daily digest email and which topics you'd like individual update notices or Goodreads alerts for.

Tip: How to add book covers, books links, author photos, and author links

On top of the comment box (mid-right) is some text that says "add book/author." Click on that and do a search for the book or author. There are two tabs: "book" and "author." At the bottom of the search results you can click on link or cover for books, link or photo for author. Then you can post stuff like this:

Tips for authors:

We welcome authors in the group, but please no hard sales. Here's what we'd love authors to do.

-Introduce yourself in the main welcome topic as a reader. Tell us what you like to read.
-Introduce yourself in the author thread and tell us more about yourself as a writer. Feel free to update this post as you release books.
-Add your books to the group bookshelves.
-Tell us about giveaways, free books, book sales, and author events in the appropriate discussion threads.
-Add information about your books in the appropriate genre threads. Better yet, add information about your books, and about books you've read and enjoyed.
-Participate in the discussions and challenges as a reader.

Quick note for authors:

Please do:
-Post information about your books in the appropriate genre topics (especially new releases)
-Add your books to the group bookshelf
-Post about giveaways, events, voting opportunities (like Kindle Scout, RONE awards, etc)
-Mention your book if it fits the specifications for a group reading challenge
-Tell us about books you've read and enjoyed by other LDS authors

Please don't:
-Tell us about every great review you receive
-Repeatedly tell group member to buy your books. Use this group as a place to make readers aware of your books, but no hard sales.
