I think I have already read 5 of these."
In the 'box' section, where you write your comment (and then hit post) - just above the box on the right side there is a small thing that says (some html is ok) - click on that. it'll open another box providing 'formatting tips' to add spiffyness to your posts. Basically, it involves:
Bold (How I did it - <.b>Bold<./b> - if you type that in the box but TAKE OUT the '.' -periods- then whatever is inbetween will be bold.
Italics ... Same thing but <.i>Italics<./i> - Again, take out the '.' periods
... you're seeing the pattern of the 'coding', right?
u is for underline
(view spoiler) .... same thing, only the coding is <.spoiler> Insert your spoiler here<./spoiler>

Click on that and it will open a search box for you to type in an author, a title, as much of the title as you know... series name... to try and find the book you are looking for. AT THE BOTTOM it has two options: add link or cover - LINK is always the default (which will just show the title of the book with a hyperlink to that book built-in) you must click cover in order for it to add the cover.
And don't forget to actually click the 'add' button next to the book you are looking for in the search box, or it will not get added to your post. You can 'strikethrough' a book title, but not the cover.

I'm aiming for: Rascal 6/6

7. A..."

A mention is just fine! Later on down the line, the challenges might be a little more unwavering on the details, but this first challenge I was aiming for an easier 'dip-your-toe-into-the-reiding-challenge-pool' style.

- Can we do a category more then once? Just curious since there are 10 categories but an Overachiever is 11 books...
- also do audio books count?"
Good questions! Audiobooks are just like any other book, in my opinion. If someone was blind, you wouldn't accuse them of not really 'reading' a book because they listened to it instead of reading a physical or eBook , right? So it's built-in with all my challenges, physical books, audio books, eBooks, iBooks - it ALL counts. Whattpad books count too (however, only once they are finished- if an author is adding a chapter every few days or every week, that book will not count until all the chapters are uploaded and you've read them).
And Overachiever is 'achieved' by doing any task more than once (but the rule still remains that each book can only count towards one item number.) So, yes, you can read two books that both 'Tell a Story' so you count that item off two times. At the same time, if you want #5 (Lover's day) to count twice, you have to read The Player and the Pixie two full times within the time alloted for the challenge.

2.

10. Once Tasted - Laura Moore (way more than I needed to know about the science of winemaking)

Checklist:
6. Earth Day - TBD
8. National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day - TBD
Starts: April 1st
Ends: April 30th
This monthly challenge is a "check list" of 10 items. To check something off, all you have to do is read a book that applies to that item. Some items are book and/or author specific while others are more general and could apply to multiple books.
Example:
If the category is "read a book with vampires" - then once you've read a book with vampires, you can check it off. If it's 'read The Player and the Pixie' then, you guessed it, you need to read that specific book to check off that item.
Fine Print:
*Not every person has the means to buy the latest books (or get them from the library or whatever) so there are multiple levels of 'difficulty' to accomodate every reader that wants to join. This will not win you a ribbon or a prize for completion (or vice versa in case of failure) - it's all just a fun opportunity if you're looking to add that next level to your reading.
*You may change books and levels at any time, and unless otherwise indicated, re-reads are allowed. All genres may be used for this challenge, unless otherwise specified.
Levels:
Pup - 2 books
Decoy - 4 books
Rascal- 6 books
Rogue - 10 books
Overachiever - 11 books or more
Checklist:
1. Library Week (1st week of month) - Read a book that includes mention of a library, librarian, or a borrowed book; or read any book you borrowed from a library.
2. National Humor Month - Any comedy, or book with humor in it will suffice.
3. Ex-Spouse Day - Any book that includes a character that had a divorce or has to deal with someone else's 'ex-spouse'... if you can justify your choice, it counts!
4. Take a Chance Day - Any book that is not your usual reading material. You can take a recommendation from another reader, pick up that book you've heard so much about but were not sure if it's you usual fare... think outside the box and take a chance!
5. Lover's Day - Considering you are in this group looking at this challenge, only the love of Penny (and hot Rugby men) will do for this one! Read The Player and the Pixie
6. Earth Day - Read a book set on Earth or with socially conscience characters (like a character that volunteers, gives away items, plants trees, cleans up neighborhoods) ... you can interpret this as widely as you need to.
7. Bat Appreciation Day - Just like Quinn is almost Batman, I want you to read a book about any character Batman (or Quinn) -like (or there are actualy bats in the book). Maybe they fight crime? Maybe they are just billionaires. Maybe they have their own batcave or special office full of technology of their own. Maybe they like to dress up in rubber. Maybe they have an arch-villian. Be creative!
8. National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day - Think 'comfort reading'... it can be a favorite book you've read before (to check it off you must re-read the book this month), it can be an author that you 'auto-buy' their books because you generally always love their stuff. Basically, you want to pick a book that you know you'll be comfortable and happy with to satisfy this item.
9. Tell a Story Day - any book that 'tells a story' will fit this... so pretty much anything except like, Math books... although some of those word problems can get verbose....
10. World Laboratory Day - Science! Any book, fiction or nonfcition, that has anything to do with science. The science connection can be based on the cover, the title, characters or locations therein.
The only real rule (besides checking off only items that actually apply to your book that you read during the month of April) is you can't double-count books. So even if I'm reading a 'Science' book that has Batman in it, you have to choose if that book counts for #7 or #10.
Post what level you want and a list of the items you will check off and the books you will be reading. Then update (edit) that post each time you read a book. You can also let us know how you are doing and update us on your progress with a new post.
Feel free to ask questions.
Happy Reading and Good Luck!
