Actually, my music taste changes very rapidly. It was almost a year ago when I refused to listen anything except Classic Bollywood music. Kishor, Mukesh and Manna sir gave me a good company.

Then came the Coke-studio era. Coke-Studio Pakistan won my heart (I didn't like Coke Studio India aka CokeStudio @MTV).
My playlist was full of coke studio song.
(You gotta hear them. They are awesome. Ask me if you need recos.)

Now is the Pop and Electro-Pop era.

Currently I'm trying to explore The Beatles and other stuff of that time.

I haven't heard any other song of Linkin Park except "Numb", which I like very much. Will try it some time.

You listen the Devil's music? :P:P
Heavy-metal is too heavy (and Satanic) for me.

message 3: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Hey Arpit, yes please send recos in Coke Studio.
I've listened mostly Atif Aslam's songs only.

message 4: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Regarding Linkin Park... My room mate used to listen and I hated it to the core... It was like shaking a metal box full of stones. Where is music in it? Its all random shrieking and beating everything around you!

Then paid attention to the lyrics of "Crawling", "Numb" and "Somewhere I Belong". Became a fan instantly. Insightful lyrics.
Some of the videos are very meaningful too. Two of my fav videos :
1. Lost in the Echo : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co4Yp...
2. Burning in the Skies : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh_YC...

Wow..the first video is AWESOME. That gave me goosebumps. The song is also very nice.
Although i didn't understand the second video.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

But certainly I'll explore Linkin Park more.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Gorab wrote: "Do recommend any video songs which you love more for the video part."

Now that's tough, cause sometimes I hate music video for video part.
Also some times music videos distract me, so I prefer audio version.
But few are here:
Papa, don't preach- Madonna (I think it's good for you, although your response would be-"I hate Madonna":P:P Give it a try.)
Sun is shining- Axwell /\ Ingrosso
Centuries- Fall Out Boy
Demons- Imagine Dragons (The song is very nice.)
La La La- Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith

Also Single Ladies, Blank Space and Shake It Off.

Magic by Coldplay reminds me of The Guide.
Remember when her husband left, how they entered in show business,

Coke Studio Pakistan:
You could listen to Dost by Abida Parveen, if you are into sufi.
Alif Allah, Jugni and Sab Aakho Ali Ali are great. Kinda fun also:P
Any song by Zeb and Haniya is awesome. You can start by Laili jaan and Kaho Kya Khayal hain.

There are also two awesome Nescafe Basement songs.
Tau Kia Hua
Tere Ishq me jo bhi doob gaya.

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Based on this thread I created my own playlist called GoodReads Paradise.
Imagine Dragons won my heart over many times. Going to follow them more often. Demons lyrics was also awesome. Loved RadioActive too.
One Republic counting stars! again superb lyrics and video.

Yet to try Beatles.

message 25: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Coke Studio is a different world in itself. Will start off with your recos Arpit. thanks. Keep them pouring!

message 26: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Arpit wrote: "But certainly I'll explore Linkin Park more."

Its been more than a decade now.. and NONE of my playlists are complete without LP in it. However I don't like them so much in the recent years. The band claims to create songs more "mature". I found them better raw!

Songs of The Beatles are subtle when compared to Imagine Dragons. Not so loud :)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Ok. Is it comparable to Pink Floyd? Never tried much of that. But hostel friends were fan of it... especially in smoking/drinking parties!

message 31: by Palash (new)

Palash (naikon) | 227 comments Do you like hard rock? If yes, then give Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses a try. Few recommeded songs would be Sweet Child of Mine(GnR), November Rain(GnR), Stairway to Heaven(Zep.), Since I have been loving you (Zep.), Whole lotta Love(Zep), Achilles Last Stand(Zep.), No Quarter (Zep). If you enjoy guitar solos then you wont find better artists than Led Zeppelin.

If u like progressive rock then give Pink Floyd a try. Some recommendations would be Comfortably Numb, Time, Shine on u crazy diamonds, echoes, Breathe in the air.

Beatles are also good. You can begin with A day in the life, Let it be, when my guitar gently weeps.

message 32: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Yes I like hard rock. From GnR I like Sweet child; Zep's stairway; Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the wall and Comfortable Numb... Will try others mentioned by you.
The guitar music of Iron Maiden's Dance of the Death is my fav. Not tried many guitar solos.
Thanks Palash :)
What kind of music you like other than hard rock?

message 33: by Palash (new)

Palash (naikon) | 227 comments wow. its good to find someone with similar music tastes.
Iron Maiden is my favourite in Heavy Metal genre besides Black Sabbath and Metallica.

I mostly like rock and heavy metal music of 60s, 70s, 80s.

Other than hard rock I enjoy lengthy epic progressive rock songs of bands such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Porcupine Tree and progressive metal music of Dream Theater.

I also like other classic rock artists like The Doors, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Velvet Underground, Queens, AC/DC, Simon and Garfunkal, The Eagles, few songs of rolling stones.
Other than that i like few grunge bands(nirvana, pearl jam), symphonic metal bands(nightwish).

I also like old hindi songs.

I dont listen to Pop much(some exceptions are there) and i hate Rap music.
Lately I have been exploring Jazz genre.

message 34: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments I don't know how to categorise my music. Neither aware of the variety of categories you've explained in detail :)
It just boils down to either Indian music or English music for me....

message 35: by Palash (new)

Palash (naikon) | 227 comments lol. I just do some research about music genre of artists that i like to find other artists and songs in the same genre. that's how i know. It is just like classifying books in dfferent genres.

message 36: by Gorab (new)

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Artist Bartholomaus Traubeck designed and built a record player that “reads” the texture and color variations of tree rings and interprets them as music. Because every tree has its own configuration of rings, every tree has its own song.

http://www.dailyliked.net/tree-trunk-...

How cool is this! Gehna you'll love this. The player interprets color variations and converts it to soft instrumental piano!

Miracle!!
I never checked the upper story of my college library, so today I went up. Was full of those boring academics books....with lots of Vivekanand Sahitya (My college is kinda Congress college, and INC is kinda anti-Hindu Secular party...so I didn't expect books related with any particular religion. That too Hinduism!! .....but God!! there were hundreds of books about Hinduism!!)

Let's come back to story, so what did I find there? Between these religious and academic books?
You guessed it right (if you did). It was "An Equal Music" by Vikram Seth. A Hardcover.
Only literature book in whole library!! What a coincident:)
Gorab, be ready!! Coming soon:P:P

That too a Hardcover?? I seriously envy you.

I'm a kpoper! And an Exo-L. I've been introduced to hardcore recently by a friend. Mozart is the way to go for classical music in my opinion. Don Giovanni's ending is !!!

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)
