I'm not sure there are any spoilers to be had. If you've read the part where Tyrion is convinced he knows who did it after analyzing that person's reaction to something, I think that's as much as we have to go on. But considering how much happens because of this incident, I find it a little unsatisfying that we aren't given a more definite account of what happened. I'm still questioning what that character's motivation might have been, and I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't someone else.

Yeah, according to the Boars, Gore, and Swords podcast - GRRM sometimes just drops a plot point out of lack of interest or forgetting.
Book 3 names (view spoiler)[Joffrey (hide spoiler)] as the source of the knife that is sent to kill (view spoiler)[Bran (hide spoiler)]. His parents mention that he heard some arguing in the van and then decided to act on his own. I don't remember the TV series being anywhere near as clear about where it came from although there are Shenanigans concerning (view spoiler)[Littlefinger (hide spoiler)]. I think throughout books 1 and 2 I was on the same train of thought as the TV show. ALso, since we're dealing with POV chapters, there's a bit of an untrustworthy narrator going on. So I was curious what the consensus is on that.
