What makes you a book addict? Some define book addicts as those who prefer to read over eating, sleeping, and/or hanging with friends. I know I fit that description. What does everyone else think?

I'd rather be reading than doing almost anything else; most of my non-reading time is spent writing. The only kind of shopping I really enjoy is book shopping. Oh, and I read a couple of hundred books a year as a general rule.

If that doesn't make me a book addict, I don't know what does. ;)

I think I'd go a bit further and say I'm a READING ADDICT. I love reading just about anything--newspapers and magazines too! Not to mention how much I love things like bookmarks, and fandom type of items, including book jewelry! I'm always happiest when reading :) I am perfectly happy when I get a whole free day to read, for example!

The last few months I haven't been in my usual obsessive mood to read but I am still a book addict! Any time I have extra money I look at books and I'm ALWAYS looking on the books for trade hash tag on Twitter lol. I think what makes me a book addict is that even though I don't read as much as I used to I still love looking at books, buying books, just being around them! :D

Haha there are a lot of reasons I'm a book addict––but one thing that comes to mind is that I take a book with me almost everywhere. And whenever I buy a new bag, it has to be big enough to fit at least one book. ;)

Ditto, Brigid! I used to have trouble hauling books around, but Kindle has made it all so much easier. I can usually fit my Kindle in my pocket, so I take it everywhere with me. If I have a spare two minutes or more, I take it out and dive in. I read while in line, read while brushing my teeth, read while doing the dishes...pretty much any chance I get!

I'm a book addict because I am constantly buying/borrowing way more books than I can keep up with!

having a kindle makes being addicted to books so much easier! I used to lug around 700 page books everywhere I went...

I`m a book addict because I live and breath books.
Either am a) reading a book , b) talking about books or c) dreaming about books.
I do watch movies and tv, and like to swim but I can go a week without swimming ,tv or movies. I CANT go a week without a book.
I think the difference between a person who likes reading and a person that breathes and lives books is that the first one might read 20 books a year while the second one reads 20 books a months(a bit of anexageration but you get my point).

I'm also a book hoarder, which I think fits in nicely with the book addict description! I realized this today...we are getting a new loveseat, so its time to do the bookshelf dance! Rearranging books and bookshelves again today! I did start a donation pile today for my local library, and put 20 books in the box! YAY! But I still have HUNDREDS more books!!!

I like using my phone for "books on the go," whether Kindle ebooks, or Audiobooks :) I plug my phone into my car stereo for the drive to and from work and listen to audiobooks! Works well :)

I've always known I was a book addict! Especially days like today when I did nothing but read, for hours and hours! :)

Yes, true!! Having a Kindle is also great for when I'm traveling and I want to bring a few books, but can't fit them all in a suitcase. :D
