LENA TRAK | 221 comments Oh this chapter really had me thinking...

"Dead. You'll have others...sweet babes and trueborn"

Who do you think Lord Hoster was talking about???

message 3: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 562 comments thoughts while reading:

I can only imagine how awkward it must be to need to punish their king's mother.
"She still grieved for Ned, she would always grieve for Ned..." ← I think she really did grow to love Ned despite it being an arranged marriage (and supposed to have married Ned's brother).
I wonder who Tansy is.
"You'll have others... sweet babes, and trueborn." ← Is that to Tansy or to Catelyn?
Why are they so reluctant to tell her about Robb's wound? He's her son, she should be told of these things!
It's kind of a random conclusion she came to about her sister Lysa.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition I was puzzling over this also and I asked on Westeros.org.
I included this info, even though it might be considered spoilerish,
because it actually happened before this chapter.

I think Lord Hoster was confusing Catelyn with her sister, Lysa, while he was talking

(view spoiler)

Thanks Terry! This was helpful!

Ria (ban1chka) | 440 comments I don't remember if we've discussed this before, but I've been wondering... do you guys think Catelyn made the right decision when she let Jaime go?

I think that it ended up not to be because it was not her decision to make. Regardless of how it ends up, she should not have done it until Robb was there to make that decision. Her decision (which was not hers to make) caused a lot of friction between her and her son.

Brianna (bebecburt) | 562 comments I think she thought she was making the right decision, but I do think it probably should have been made by Robb and Robb only.

I can see why she did it but I don't think she should have done it. She must have believed that once Jaime was free and safe back home the Lannisters would feel obliged to free her daughters, you know "A Lannister always pays his debts" and all...

message 10: by Vishakha (new)

Vishakha Motwani (vimo) | 150 comments Catelyn went with the heart of a mother, she wanted her daughters back. But there are a couple of glitches that she herself noted before:

1. They never mentioned about Arya (or did they?)
2. She always realized that the road to King's Landing is long, there would be a lot many people who would like to get Jamie just to get back at Lannisters!

Also, yeah Edmure did a foolish thing, but what was she expecting, she couldn't have thought that Jaime would go with Brienne, he wouldn't try to escape, they would safely reach King's Landing considering the journeys are so long, then Arya and Sansa would be returned back to them, that too unharmed!

Oh wow I saw the spoiler I never knew (view spoiler)

I think they are afraid to tell about Robb's wounds because she is a prisoner and you don't usually share personal information about the king with a prisoner. Yeah I get it that she is his mother, but then see what happened when Catelyn was left alone with Jamie!
