A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments I'm taking the advice of group member Paul and starting this topic. What are you reading? How do you like it so far?

And it has a pretty cover!

Julie | 58 comments I think the Timeless Romance Anthologies always do a great job with covers. I can't think of one I didn't like!

This anthology set of titles has 3 clean secular Georgian/Regency era authors who all are LDS: Jennifer Moore, GG Vandagriff, and Nichole Van.

Plus I am also currently reading and reviewing the last LDS author mentioned above Nichole Van's latest full length novel:

Gladly Beyond by Nichole Van
Gladly Beyond

I plan to read next:

Solstice by Jane Redd
Solstice
by LDS author Heather B. Moore/H.B. Moore as Jane Redd

Tressa (Wishful Endings) | 16 comments I'm starting The Earl's Betrothal. I actually am supposed to read two books before that one, but it's what I want to read (I'm in the mood for historical romance). Then I'll be reading Proposals and Poison after that (one of the books that I was supposed to read first). :)

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments Anyone reading anything good? Or is everyone watching the Olympics?

message 13: by Charissa (new)

Charissa (charissastastny) | 169 comments A.L. wrote: "Anyone reading anything good? Or is everyone watching the Olympics?"

Both. Watching track events right now while I read (during commercials or boring parts for me) Asymptote by L. Anthony Skelton .

message 14: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments Awesome multi-task!

message 15: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (Wishful Endings) | 16 comments Lots of Olympics watching here too, but also reading P.S. I Like You by Kasie West by one of my favorite YA LDS authors, Kasie West.

I remember the blurb on that one. It sounded cute! How do you like it so far?

Tressa (Wishful Endings) | 16 comments A.L. wrote: "I remember the blurb on that one. It sounded cute! How do you like it so far?"

So far I really like it. The heroine is a little different than her others have been, but I like that too. :)

message 18: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments I read three books while on vacation last week, and they were all good (4 or 4.5 stars):

Infected by Gregg Luke Infected by Gregg Luke
Eleanor and the Iron King by Julie Daines Eleanor and the Iron King by Julie Daines

message 19: by Jennie (new)

Jennie | 151 comments I just finished To Win A Lady's Heart by Sian Ann Bessey. It's an historical romance with a lot of intrigue. I loved it. Mostly I'm reading Christmas books for my next column and I better get off my computer and get back to reading.

Sounds like I should add that one to my to-read list! I listened to one of Sian's books (Within the Dark Hills) on a road trip and I enjoyed that one.

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments So, what is everyone reading?

I started this book with my twins last night: Fires of Invention (Mysteries of Cove, #1) by J. Scott Savage Fires of Invention by J. Scott Savage.

And I'm reading this one and enjoying it so far. The Darkling Bride by Laura Andersen The Darkling Bride by Laura Andersen

message 26: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 42 comments I read Fires of Invention last year. I still have the other two to read. Perfect for reading with kids.

I have Heidi, The Empty Grave, Side Jobs: Stories from the Dresden Files, Men at Arms, and Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation going on right now.

message 27: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments I think I bought the first two in the Mysteries of Cove series when they went on sale about the time book 3 was released. I'm excited we're finally getting to them!

How do you like Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, Audrey? I've head about it, but haven't gotten around to reading it.

message 28: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 42 comments I really like it, but I am a big editing nerd.

message 30: by Jennie (new)

Jennie | 151 comments I reviewed two books I particularly liked today for Meridian; The Hunter's Son by Gregg Luke and A Song for the Stars by Ilima Todd. I also just finished reading Traci Abramson's terrific new book, Sanctuary. Here's the link to my reviews https://ldsmag.com/lds-fiction-my-per...

Lovely War by Julie Berry Lovely War by Julie Berry

I haven't read All the Truth That's in Me yet, but I thought The Passion of Dolssa was really good! I hope your book club picks up Lovely War--it would be a good one for a group read with a good variety of things to discuss.

message 35: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 42 comments All the Truth That’s in Me was pretty good.

I see Sally a lot on facebook and she's so fun and so into the period she writes about. Do you have a favorite of her books?

It was rather intense. Berry did a good job with that.

message 40: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 42 comments I finished Brandon Sanderson’s Calamity. Good series.

message 41: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Sowards | 2481 comments Audrey wrote: "I finished Brandon Sanderson’s Calamity. Good series."

Is that the complete series?

My children and I read the Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians series last summer, and we're still waiting (not so patiently) for the last book.

message 42: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 42 comments Reckoners is complete.

The five books of Alcatraz is complete, but there’s going to be a Bastille series.

message 43: by Chelsi (new)

Chelsi Marie | 1 comments I just started the Work and the Glory series. Can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read them. I’m the youngest in my family and these books can out when I was very young. But I know my oldest sibling loved them when they came out in the 90’s! I just finished the 3rd book and starting the 4th. They are quite big books but definitely fast reads.

I haven’t read those; I’m worried it’s too cheesy.

I loved them when they came out, and I still remember most of the characters 20+ years later, so that says something good about the series. Fun for you to have the whole series to enjoy now for the first time!

Paige Edwards | 5 comments My daughter gained a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith reading these books.

I'll bet Elder Lund would be thrilled to hear that! I'm sure that's why he wrote the series in the first place.

message 48: by Don (new)

Don Fallick | 2 comments Just re-read Farewell, Fleeing Repatriation by Barbara Sorensen Fallick. Truly a blockbuster, in the tradition of Michener and Uris. I'm prejudiced: I'm married to the author. Took her ten years to write it! If you like historical novels with an LDS bent, you'll love this book. Includes an afterward detailing what's history and what's fiction. Don't ignore the bibliography; some of those books are dynamite.

message 49: by Jennie (new)

Jennie | 151 comments Will there be an ARC coming my way? Jennie Hansen, Meridian Magazine

message 50: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Fallick (barbarasorensenfallick) | 48 comments Let me show my ignorance. I keep seeing the term ARC but I don't know what it means. Please explain it to me.
