Why does Stephen King include Gordon’s story ‘Stud City’ in ‘The Body’? What does it tell you about Gordon?

I think it gives an overview about how everyday life is for Gordon and his friends, as well as what their expectations for the future are.

Also it's way of showing Gordon's feeling about his deceased brother and his parents subsequent remoteness.
