I have personally always pictured Claire Danes as Offred, basically because I listened to the audiobook version that she narrates, but Elisabeth Moss seems like a nice choice to me.

I think in a way that it's too bad that it's a Hulu production, which means it will be exclusively on Hulu and maybe not that many people will get to watch it. Hulu is very popular but it doesn't beat Netflix which is available worldwide.

What do you guys think?

That's interesting. I saw the first adaptation many moons ago, and I don't recall being terribly impressed by it. It wasn't horrible, but several of the performances were... a little broad, shall we say.

A remake (a re-adaptation? What do you call a second adaptation of the same novel?) seems like a good idea. I can see Claire Danes in that role too, and she's got the chops. I've seen Moss in a fewer things, but I don't recall seeing her in anything I didn't like....

The Handmaid's Tale would be a good one for a Girlz group list at some point. Probably not a great Mother's Day read, mind you, but appropriate for this club.
