What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I remember reading a book a few years ago in the Young Adult section of my library that I really liked but it was so long ago that I don't remember too much about it.

All i remember is that the main character was a girl in her mid to late teens who was captured and made into a slave (i specifically remember this cause her captors shaved her head). She ends up befriending this bird that can talk and later on he reveals he can turn into a guy. Then there was some magic and a war that was going on but that's pretty much all i remember.

It was also a high fantasy book and there were 3 books in the series (maybe).

I tried google search but that didn't work and the library I first read the books recently got rid of a lot of books to make way for new ones so that too was a dead end ;-;

It's definitely NOT these books:
-Master of Crows (characters not young enough and the story doesn't fit)
-The Pellinor Series (it has a slave girl but there is no crow companion which was a large part of the story)
-The Kiesha'ra Series (there was no mention of other animal shifters in the book, just the one boy who could turn into a crow)

Sorry its not much to go on, it was a really long time ago. I'll try to add more stuff if i remember anything later on.

I think I’m looking for the same book! I’ve found this thread because I’m googling a book that I read in middle school (2009) who’s title I cant remember (sorry). Since I read the book so long ago, I remember so little and I’m not sure if my memories are accurate.
Do you remember the point of view shifting between characters or was it from the crows point of view? I’m remembering scenes where there would be description from the crows literal birds eye view. The crow would fly to where the girl was, crawl through the window, and turn into a guy with bird-like mannerisms (it’s a crow that can turn into a guy- not a guy that turns into a crow). And was there a hint of romance between them? I think he liked her, but thought they couldn’t be together because he’s a bird. I don’t know...
