I read this book several years ago, but found a copy for a dollar at Half-Price Books, so I read it again. Life after a nuclear holocaust. This book was one of those stories that stayed with me and I can't forget it. It's something I think everyone would benefit to read. When people lose everything -- everything they've ever known or cared about. It just makes you think. Has anyone else read this? (If you like Stephen King, you'll like Robert McCammon.)

I also read Swan Song years ago when it first came out. I have always been a fan of Robert McCammon, at least his science fiction books. It came out just before the Stand, and at the time, when there was so much excitement about the Stand, I thought everyone was missing the real treat! I liked the Stand, but I loved Swan Song. The characters were deeper and more memorable. I recently bought it from audible. I find that I enjoy reading a book for the first time, but can enjoy it all over again in this different format - having someone else read a book to you, changes your perception of the story.

The first time I read this book, I was 13, and I read it out loud to my sister. (we are avid readers and were fighting over it) This is still my favorite book. I have read it more times than I can tell you and it is by far better than The Stand. Though both have their good points. Robert McCammon is just such a phenomenal writer and made magic in this book.

I love this one. It's in my top ten list. He is an amazing author. I've read pretty much everything he has written and have enjoyed them all. :)

I loved this one and Boy's Life by him as well. Awesome author.

I did years ago and enjoyed it enough to reread it about 3 years ago...definitely suggested reading for PA fans

I've read this a number of times since it's release. It's my favorite book by this author, and firmly in my top 10.

I loved Swan Song. It also stuck with me for a long time. Robert McCammon is such a wonderful storyteller. Just finished Gone South which, Like Swan, Stayed close to my heart for awhile. I love having a book to read before bed but I had to wait awhile to digest the story, felt that I would lose the characters if started a new book too soon. Did not want to flat leave them. Boys Life was great as well.

I read this book in the late 80's after I found it at a garage sale for 10 cents. It's still the scariest book I've ever read. It was still the Cold War and the possibility of nuclear war was very, very real so it really hit home. I think the character development was much better than in The Stand and it was just a better novel.

I've read this more than a few times! Every couple of years I pull out my copy and have a wonderful long weekend reading it all over again. It's been in my top 10 since the first time I read it years ago. The characters are so alive. I'm always rooting for Sister.

I read this book many years ago. I thought it was great then and I still do. I my humble opinion it’s better than The Stand and I am a die hard Stephen King fan.

looks like this is an old discussion.
but that's a great book. If you enjoyed it try wolf's hour or ushers passing. they are both just as fun to read.
The Wolf's Hour (Michael Gallatin #1) by Robert R. McCammon
Usher's Passing by Robert R. McCammon

Just finished for the second time.
Well worth the effort

This is my favorite book! I have read twice and listened on Audio once!
