Do you read a series one after the other, or do you prefer to space them out some?

Personally, I read series over again once all are released, straight through with no other books in between. I find it helps with seeing how everything builds and finding small hints you forgot. For this reason, I try to wait until a series is completely released to start it.

Clare (-clare-) | 98 comments I don't tend to re read books so I deliberately try not to even start a series until all the books have been released then I can choose how to space my reading out without long breaks in between.

Melissa | 4 comments I love reading series but I tend to wait until all is out. I'm not a huge fan of cliff hangers.

Tracey | 916 comments This depends on how invested I am in the series, but usually I space them out just because too much of one genre tires me.

Usually I space them out, too. I find I need a break so I can be excited to be back in the world with the same characters again.

Every now and then one will grab me so that I feel compelled to read all the books straight through, and that's why I usually wait until all the books are out before I start. Otherwise I don't know when I'll be caught having to wait and not wanting to. I hate cliffhangers too!

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 455 comments It depends on how into the series I am. For some yes I do like to hit the entire series straight no breaks. If it is a smaller series less than 10 books, if more then I usually need to space them out after about 4 or 5 when I get tired of the series or it starts getting stale. I prefer to read them in publishing order, unless chronological order within the storylines makes better sense. Depending on the series the order of publishing follows the order of the storyline. Also it depends on if it is a series of just one author's works or a group of authors (like many TV and movie franchises where each book stands alone).

Jackie I prefer to wait until the series is finished and then begin reading. Since I always read more than one book at a time, it is seldom that I get bored with a series.

Roseanne | 1239 comments I would love to read them all at once but I have this nasty habit of getting addicted to a series and having to wait a whole year for the next book to be released. Drives me crazy
