I recently read this but can't remember the name or author. It is an IR romance, the heroine is the daughter of the head of the black mafia in Boston who was just murdered. The man who murder him wants to force her into marriage to get control. She hides out in the Russian part of Boston hoping no one will think to look for her there. She applies for a job in the whorehouse but the man who runs it takes her as his assistant and lover. He doesn't believe her fake story.

Could it be Shannon by Shara Azod? Has a similar storyline but in this case the heroine's brother was the head of the black mafia and was murdered and she owned a school but was forced into hiding in the Irish Boston Neighborhood...
