ASOIAF has taught me some new words:
-betrothed
-usurper
ASOIAF has also taught me that things are not always what they seem.
ASOIAF has taught me that one must always look with more than just their eyes.

Everyone except me has read:
~The Harry Potter series.
I have not read it because:
~when these books first came out I was not at all interested in books. I only became interested in books about a year and a half ago because I was too sick to play video games. (just the flu nothing serious) So what did I do? Pick up a book about video games and have not stopped reading since. I have been slowly reading this series - I just finished book #3. Some time I will finish the series but it is not the be all, end all at my age.

You are not the only one Leslie. I haven't read them either and started them last year. Haha.

I don't usually read fantasy, but Harry Potter and of course, Game of Thrones, kind of transcend that genre for me.

Wow, I thought I was the only one.
Terry one thing I have discovered is that as far as fantasy goes I really like swords, dragons and "Game of Thrones type" stuff. But the magic and super powers sides of fantasy are less desirable for me. I now know to watch out for that.

1984 (George Orwell)
Well maybe not everyone, but it's quite a popular book. It's on my To-read list but for some reason I keep postponing it. The storyline doesn't intrigue me...

After you read the Hunger Games you should read 1984.

Oh is it that good Alex?
I thought so. It was slow, but the topic is interesting. Just puts perspective on the government if we gave them too much power. While reading the Hunger Games I thought of 1984.

I am in the minority but I hated 1984. I didn't exactly finish it. I just jumped to the end to read the ending.
The book started out so good and for me it went downhill in no time. (view spoiler)

I started this after Twilight Saga in an attempt to find out whether I liked Vampire fiction or not. Naaah... It was just Twilight I liked! By the way Leslie sorry you didn't enjoy it!
Lol I did that with the Twlight series. I didn't think the first book was too bad and then the second book Belle? Was too whiny for me.
I could do the same thing with the Outlander series. Not really what I expected.

The first one wasn't bad and the second was eh until you get to a certain point then it got better. Entertaining I suppose, but i thought it was only going to be centered around one part of history but it goes to revolutionary war and stuff like that. I am not sure if I will like the third book or not. I am just waiting for a friend to read the second book so we can move on to the third lol. I could care less if I picked up the third book or not. Plus I don't like Claire, the main character. Something about her I don't like. Lol

I don't have a fill in the blank answer really. The only series I can think of is back in high school I read those VC Andrews books. The first few were good. (Flowers in the Attic and such) But then the ones life Heaven and the ones that followed felt like the same books over and over.
I have many series that I only read book 1 and quit though.
