Jem Crystal | 3 comments Everyone keeps over emphasizing vampire comedy. I did not read Argeneau/Hunter novels because they were funny. I read them because of the strong characters and unique family ties. Sands could cut every joke out of her books and I would still have eaten them up.

Now I am almost done reading the series I want suggestions on PARANORMAL/FANTASY FAMILIES. Not funny books. I would be happy with a family of centaurs or gnomes or griffins or wizards or more vampires. It is the bonded supernatural family that gives me the good feels. Plus memorable characters. Lucian is my fav but he only shines because of his interaction with and commanding care of the others.

So what other books are out there like Lyndsay Sands' where supernatural family comes first and characters are well writ?

Other Books I Liked:
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
Doctrine of Labyrinths by Sarah Monette
Merry Gentry by LKH
The Sharing Knife by Lois McMaster Bujold

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 8 comments Jem, May I suggest the Drake Sisters or Leopard series by Christine Feehan. Very strong characters that are all about family in the Drake Sisters series. The Leopard series is amazing! Wonderful imagery and some of the characters just won't quit. I've personally listened to and read Burning Wild several times. Immortals After Dark (Kresley Cole) and Night Huntress (Jeaniene Frost) are also excellent in following great characters but I will admit they are heavy on humor.

Jem Crystal | 3 comments I read Christine Feehan long ago. CF does have a background family at work and I was once very attached to her vamp family series because of it. But I think I like LS's Argeneau's better because they're a little more real.

I guess there are not that many romance novelists that think having good family ties is romantic. But I think it's endearing. I get tired of scenario only child family all dead/dying/abusive/etc.

Nairabell | 4 comments Have you read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters? It's more of an adopted family rather than blood but the characters are well written and while there is humour, it definitely takes a back seat.

Jem Crystal | 3 comments It has been a while. Ash was a favorite character.

I'm trying J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood now because I never got around to reading them before.

Probably will never find a fic family I love more than the Argeneau's.
