Our Buddy Read continues in June with one of my personal favorites - Vengeance in Death. I'm excited for new readers to discover this one for the first time . . . and also looking forward to discussing the book with all the devoted re-readers yet again. We will begin reading this book on June 1 and open discussions will begin on June 8.

Please avoid Spoilers prior to June 8 as we strive to protect the reading experience for our first time readers.

Plot Summary/Synopsis:
He is a madman with the mind of a genius and an expert with technology who stalks his prey, then taunts the police. Eve Dallas found the first dead man in his own home and the second in a vacant apartment. They both had links with a secret.

Always. And I might add every time after as well. For me this is a second buddy read on this series.

Best ever. Heard someone else once and was so underwhelmed. Funny what a voice does

Mara Pemberton (marapem) Something is always lost when a series changes a narrator. It takes a while either to get used to them reading a series, or just give up on the series altogether.

With the death of Ralph Cosham, we lost a wonderful narrator. To me, he was GAMACHE & Company.

When the NATURE OF THE BEAST came out last year, I got the audiobook from the library rather than get it from Audible.com because I wasn't sure of the new narrator chosen to be GAMACHE & Company.

I will not say that Robert Bathhurst was bad, but he wasn't great. He was okay, but he never seemed to find his rhythm. One time he read it to fast, other times too slow. I know for us Gamache lovers, it's going to take us a while to get used to him.

Me too! She is incredible. She does a great job with the men as well as the women and I'm always so impressed how she handles the different accents.

message 23: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) One of the great things is Susan isn't just narrating, she is performing.

So true. I sometimes feel that the other audio reader is doing just that. i sometimes wish that more readers would realised that its performance with voice

Susan Ericksen is the reason I even "read" these books. She MAKES them for me.

I'm looking forward to it also, Gess. We'll be ready to openly discuss on the 8th! :)

message 28: by Michelle (last edited Jun 01, 2016 12:54AM) (new)

Michelle | 2650 comments Usually I wait till closer to open discussion time but I couldn't wait !

I love how Robb always sets the beginning of the book for the rest of the book. Already I just want to slap Summerset silly. In general it's small things but this has a concerted concentration of it. I'm waiting for the 8th. Gonna be a loooooong wait for me.

Also why is it that Eve always has bad electronics. First her PC then her car.

message 29: by Jadzia (new)

Jadzia | 26 comments Me too! I just wanted to smack Summerset at the beginning of this book.
One of my favorites and not to be missed for the new In Death fans.
