Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments I think I may be the first on my library waiting list for this book. At least, they seem surprised to hear a new King book is coming out soon.

I have liked this series a lot. I know there are some who have not cared for the format or the stories, but this has been some of my favorite King material.

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments Oh, Matthew, I am with you 100%, and I can't wait for the release date of End of Watch. I really like the characters, Hodges, Holly, Jerome, anxious to see what King has in store for them, and I can't wait to see what happens w / Brady Hartswick whom I believe has been one big faker for many years and throw in a new special "talent".
Someone told me the original title was Suicide.... hmmm.... It's going to be a good one; I just know it !

Nancy (paper_addict) | 941 comments I haven't read the first two yet. I own them but haven't read them yet. I will read them soon so I can read the last one when I am done with the first two. Binge reading.

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 49 comments I albo really like these books. They are not Classic king but thats just fine with me. Lately ive noticed his writing has changed somewhat. People have different opinions on that but personally I like it.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments I've read all of King's novels, so I'll read this one, but hopefully he's gotten this sort of thing out of his system. A most banal series to this point.

Travis I've had a copy pre-ordered from Amazon ever since the cover reveal! Can't wait to find out how this series ends, especially the potential for a more supernatural element.

Erin (ems84) | 2656 comments I'm looking forward to this one. I am going to order it as soon as it comes out.

Jarek "the Mistborn" Dąbrowski (jarekthemistborn) | 49 comments also very much looking forward to see how things unravel . I really enjoyed the other two and Brady is one sick bastard:D

Kandice | 4387 comments I find this series a detour from his usual, but love it, and can't wait for this final installment.

* Jenn * (just-jenn) | 14 comments I started reading this series because it's Mr. King, duh. But I wasn't a fan of the first book. I enjoyed Finders Keepers much more and am looking forward to End Of Watch. I am interested in what surprises are going to come out of Hartsfield...

I honestly hope Stephen King gets back to the regular supernatural scary topics. I prefer that to the detective element this series.

Tiffany I agree that the series is a little different for the usual SK plots, but his writing style is still top notch, and I honestly LOVED Mr.Mercedes so much.

I also am so siked that he's doing a book tour for End of Watch!

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments It took me awhile to be able to say this and mean it, but I'm glad that King is offering his readers a new direction w/ his writing and it's not just the "same old/ same old", which I always devour and which is always darn good! It's not that he is no longer a master storyteller or a master at character development, , hallmark characteristics, but now we're seeing how he applies these techniques differently and IMO, he is doing it well! End ofWatch will be brilliant (I hope :) ).

I'm with you Jenny... I wasn't crazy about Mr. Mercedes, but I thought Finders Keepers was really great... also dealt with a terrific theme, the incredible power of really good novels and stories.

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments Funny, although I really enjoyed the two I preferred Mr Mercedes.
Really looking forward to End Of Watch.

Didn't like the villain... didn't think he was complex enough or that his motivation was realistic. I've read several novels and non-fiction on mass murders since then (the stranger beside me for one). I guess I should give it another read; I may change my mind.

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments How I loved The Stranger Beside Me about Ted Bundy. Now, he was chilling b/c he was so darn "normal" in appearance/ actions etc.

Great book based, I guess, on an amazing coincidence... that a writer of crime procedurals would end up sitting next to a serial killer while they both worked at a crisis hotline. And they would become friends even as his guilt became more clear.

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments Just looking on Amazon there and the Kindle version is a lot more expensive than the hardback being released!!!
Now I'm a prodiminantly Kindle reader but there is no way I'm gonna pay that for it. I'll head to the bookstore and buy myself a copy.

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments Adrian, I'm a bit confused. On Amazon.com the
Hardcover is $18.00 and the Kindle is $14.99 ???
Is this not correct information?

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments I see Adrian is from Ireland - different country rates?

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments Yeah sorry guys, UK Amazon. £9.99 for the hardback version. £12.93 for kindle version.

Cheryl Wedesweiler (cherylwedesweiler) | 0 comments Put a hold on it at the library! I have a hold on the kindle version for mine. I am #4 on the list-last time I looked there were 18 total on the list. My hold is for the audio version. Holds at my library started at the end of May for the pre-order.

Cheryl Wedesweiler (cherylwedesweiler) | 0 comments Get OVERDRIVE (app at Amazon.com)
to get kindle books from the library.

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments Just stopped by the library - I am the first on hold! They already have my name on it ready to put on the holds shelf on Wednesday!

Michele Bariani (michelebariani) It's out! Got the (e)book! Just downloaded it on my Kobo reader, can't wait for the lunch break to start digging into it. Really loved the first two chapters of the trilogy.

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments Cool! I must have had the day wrong in my head - I thought it was coming out Wednesday.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments Another trip to B&N, another book for my King bookcase (I'm gonna need another bookcase soon...)

Cody Vaters | 118 comments I'm going to be buying this from my local Chapters when I get off work tonight, can't wait to dive in! I can see myself being up way too late tonight :) work tomorrow? Pfft we'll see

Vince Ashurst (vinceash) | 1 comments Mines just turned up from Amazon with The Fireman can't wait to read them both. Just hope I can get to one of Joe Hill's signings while he's in England this week

Nickronomicon | 23 comments Anybody going to see him on the End of Watch book tour? I'll be in Nashville TN this weekend. I'd really love to go..... tickets are a bit out of my reach and I'm trying to justify spending the money. Anybody seen him on one of these tours?

message 32: by Bill (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bill Murray Going to see him this Friday on his Charleston, WV stop. The way I justified the ticked price is that it does include a copy of the book with a chance of getting a signed edition.

However, I did not want to wait to get the book so I downloaded the audible version as soon as it became available and am listening to it now. Will Patton does an outstanding job as narrator!

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments Got it! Bloody old school Game Boy on the back cover . . . Interesting!

Ok - the wife said yes so I'm going to see him in Nashville! Can't wait!

Kandice | 4387 comments How much are the tickets? Just out of curiosity.

Nickronomicon | 23 comments Kandice wrote: "How much are the tickets? Just out of curiosity."

They're all over the place really. Found a reasonable single ticket on StubHub, they seemed to have the most available in my searches. I'm passing through Nashville on my way to Gulf Shores for a vacation next week, so I'm looking forward to lounging on the beach with this new book!

I'm going to the WV tour! I honestly have no clue what to expect, but the tickets were less than $40, but I was one of the lucky ones who were able to get the tickets from the venue's website (my friend was actually the lucky one, I couldn't get through because the website kept going down!)
But I know people are now selling the tickets for way more now :(

Jack Palmer | 8 comments does any one know if stephen king comes to england??

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments I just looked at King's June Book Tour schedule and ALL venues from Jersey City on June 7 to Reno, NV are completely SOLD OUT.

Nickronomicon, It states that Nashville is one that is Sold Out. Maybe you have another source. Good luck!

Betsy Hetzel | 469 comments I'm sure that if you heard the news this AM , you heard of the driver of the truck who deliberately ran into a crowd of bicyclists, killing 5 and injuring many. My first thought, after praying for the victims, was this series and MR. MERCEDES, life imitating art. Tragic, senseless.

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments Looks like they fixed the page count.

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments Anyone started this yet? Living up to the standard of the first two?

message 43: by Boxcar (new) - added it

Boxcar Shorty (boxcarshorty) | 16 comments I'm 77% through it and while I'm really enjoying it it's the weakest of the trilogy. I thought Finders Keepers was far the best and that Mr. Mercedes was pretty solid. I'm not going to get into why yet to avoid spoilers. Overall I think it's a great trilogy but if done differently End Of Watch could have been a lot better.

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments Charles wrote: "I'm 77% through it and while I'm really enjoying it it's the weakest of the trilogy. I thought Finders Keepers was far the best and that Mr. Mercedes was pretty solid. I'm not going to get into why..."

Thanks Charles. I preferred Mr Mercedes to Finders Keepers but enjoyed both immensely. Disappointing to hear you think it's the weakest. Hope to give some feedback here when I have read it but have a couple of books to get through first.

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments I am 170 pages in and I am enjoying it. I liked the first two in the series as well.

Finders Keepers was my favorite of the first two - still not enough to tell if this one will surpass . . .

message 46: by Jack (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jack Palmer | 8 comments i've got about 80 pages left and i don't think it's the best of the three but it's still worth owning. I agree with you charles it is a good trilogy with the originals characters in. I's got a different style to it but im incredibly enjoying it!!

message 47: by Bill (last edited Jun 08, 2016 12:30PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bill Murray I am about 1/3 into it and am thinking it could end up being the best of the 3. I was not a real fan of Finders Keepers, it was ok, but I am getting a little bored with novels where one of the main characters is a writer. Anyway, back to EOW.....I have found it to be a real page turner with great moments of suspense and great characters.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments I'll probably start it tommorrow. It promises to be the best of the three. But then that's like saying that it's sequel will be better than "The Force Awakens"; not a particularly diffiuclt standard to beat. Of course, I said that about the new Star Trek films as well and had to eat my words...

Kandice | 4387 comments I am about 2/3 of the way through and while I love it, I find King's constant recapping of the first two in the series to be cumbersome for him. He usually has such a slight hand with that and here it's feels almost as if someone else added in the recaps after he finished writing.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments About 60% done (started around 1am and have read for about 8hrs--30+ pages an hour is a goodly pace for me). I don't think there's anything King could do to NOT make this the best of the trilogy at this point, but he is definitely not a detective fiction writer.
