I'm wondering now if the magic can be used to make plague and maybe the magic wants him to spew out lots of it.
So many interesting things here!
First, Nevara as inn-owner, i can see him helping other people out like that. I really thought he was going to get this whole town organized on food before he went on.
But i guess the magic just takes, what it needs and was going to take him away no matter what. There are indeed too many things happening in the places he is lingering. I guess allowing him to magically grow a garden is better than sending the plague on his household.
Hitch is interesting! So he is the same as Nevara, called by the Specks to be their magic tool. But what is more interesting - he keeps working for the Gernian military.
That is one thing i was still stuck on: if you're a Speck tool, how can you be Gernian army (and essentially a traitor) without being discovered?
Seems like it's possible!
Hated the fact that this important package turned out to be a fish though. How incredibly unimportant.

I hadn't considered that yet! Imagine that!

He could have been another Kvothe, or Kote! Just a bigger version.

After Nevare and his father went to extraordinary lengths to force some loss of weight, I thought Nevare would seize this knowledge and attempt to force out as much magic as possible to see if he could lose all the weight he gained. I'm sure it wouldn't have worked or would have left him incredibly weak but as much as Nevare obsesses about the weight I really thought he would try forcing out as much magic as he could.
There seems to be some sort of disconnect here, he can't put two and two together. Maybe that's the Speck magic keeping him under control.

I thought the same thing. I kept expecting the engineer inside Nevare to fix some of the problems with the road as well.
ctgt, i had the same issue. i'm guessing it's more a case of not knowing how to unleash magic, but it comes across as if he doesn't actually connect the dots either.

Yes. Like grow some giant pumpkins or something. He seems to be resisting the magic as much as possible and maybe he sees using it as giving himself over.
