Here are some discussion questions/thoughts I had while reading this section:
1. How do you feel about the language/slavery/violence? It was a bit off putting for me when I started despite being someone who does read books that are more along the lines of erotica.
2. I love the betrayal plot line between Kastor and Damen. It makes for really interesting politics.
3. What did you think of Laurent? He wasn't what I was expecting!
4. What do you think about the Regent's mercy/treaty?
5. I really like the world building in juxtaposition, reminds me of The Winner's Curse, Vere vs. Akielos decadent vs. barbarous etc

I totally agree about Laurent, he is just so intuitive. While you want to hate him, you can't.
