The Benedict Society series are a cute series for young kids (ages 8-13). I got a set of them for our Little Free Library so with series as the tag, I thought I'd give them a shot. I like to read children's books because I create a list for my daughter of books I think she'd like to read or explore. These are a bit beyond her for now but I"m putting together a nice spreadsheet of books for her.

This was the second in the series. I didn't think it was quite as good as the first but they are entertaining and filled with good characters. I like that the "heroes" are two girls and two boys and they are all equally strong and the girls play a big role in each adventure. I am always on the look out for books with strong female characters so I can add them to the list for my daughter.

In this book, the four children head off on a scavenger hunt type of adventure, following a trail of clues in the hopes they can find their mentor who has been kidnapped by his evil twin. It's melodramatic and not at all believable but a fun read with strong kid characters.

Susie They sound fun. I'll give the first one a go with my son.

My son really liked these when we read them aloud together. The first one is still my favorite of the bunch. We really liked how each of the kids approached problem solving in a different way.

I agree and their talents weren't gendered which I really appreciated
