I watched it this week and I think it's a really cool movie. Of course, I'm a sucker for spy movies.

I fell like a ton of bricks for Illiya! He is my man. He and Gaby are so cute together. Team Gallya all the way.

Of course, you know me and Russians.

Henry Cavill is ridiculously gorgeous, but Armie Hammer stole the show as the complex Russian agent, Illiya.

I love it when Illiya said things like my woman would never wear this and the whole "don't make me put you over my knee" He was very tender at times as well like putting her to bed and comforting her before their mission

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments I really loved this movie. I'm baffled why it didn't do so well. Not to mention that people were claiming that the script was bad.

Personally I thought it was one of the better acted and written movie.

message 6: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t I didn't love it but I did like it. It seems to me that most movies not set in America don't got well with American audiences, especially if people have accents, also this generation of movie goers seem to enjoy action movies and this was very true to it's era.

of course that's just this girl's opinion.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments No I agree 100%. Or if it's a "cartoon" or subtitled. It's a shame.

I think it has a very sly sort of style and very reminiscent of the 60s tv and movies. If you aren't used to that, some of its going to go over your head and it looks corny.

Yeah, I can see that.

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 688 comments I loved the décor and the clothing - Elizabeth Debicki's outfits were just amazing, and she made a good baddie, too.

And yes, Henry Cavill is just ridiculously good-looking but Armie Hammer stole the show with his quiet persona of Illya

She definitely was a good bad guy. The style and outfits nailed the 60s down.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments Her out fits were amazing!

Actually I really loved all the fashion for the movie.

Charlotte (charia) | 7 comments Loved the movie I've watched it twice. Second time with husband; he liked it also. Wish they would make a sequel.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments I doubt they will. The world wide numbers weren't too bad, but state side it didn't do well.

I would love a sequel. Too bad it didn't do well. :(

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments Yeah. I really hope to see Henry Cavill in more roles like this.

Nene | 10 comments Omg, I watched this movie yesterday and had the exact same reaction to Illiya! I just love how quietly intense he was - the whole air of competence, reliability and persistence...,perhaps obstinacy, he exhuded, all mixed with a touch of sweetness and vulnerability. Plus he was gorgeous and had a sexy accent to boot. He just about ticked all my boxes.

Illiya was so swoon-worthy :)

Well said.

Nene | 10 comments I would devour any novel/series with a hero like him. And the way they used his character for comedic relief actually added to his swooningness not to mention solidified his alpha status with me.

Armie Hammer did a good job at playing Illya. Illya was the definition of what a dangerous bad boy is. A book with a character like him would catch my attention. Well, books that I'm used to reading. This is the first movie that I have even seen Armie in. I remember, when The Lone Ranger was going to the movies and I would see the previews. I couldn't help but think, why would someone named their son Armie Hammer, because it was too close to Arm and Hammer backing soda.

Was it just me, but didn't they have two scenes back to back, where Napoleon checked into the hotel? Someone forgot to edit that part. They had two hotel scenes and shown both in the movie.

I loved all of Illya parts. He reminded me of an Avenger, when he was chasing that car and pulled that trunk door off that car. He was strong. He even thrown the motor cycle at the bad guy. Yes, he's an Avenger. He's anger problem is pure Hulk. lol. He would have hurt those thieves and I could only imagine what he did to the guys in the men's room.

Gaby was bad. She was tested a dangerous bad boy while he played chess. I think that chess is a lot of dangerous bad boy's game of choice.

Gabby went put that music on to get on Illya's nerves. I think she slapped him twice, because he didn't want to drink with her and he was ignoring her. Also, because she wanted him, why else would she jump him? It was cute, how she fell asleep on him and he carried her. I like things like that. That's romance.

I was laughing so hard, when Napoleon went in the truck and was eating and drinking, while the bad guys were chasing after Illya. He was enjoying the view. And when he drove that truck on top of that boat.

Illya claimed Gabby. She was his woman rather she wanted to believe it or not. Love it!

I could go on, but I have to get going. I have to own this movie.

Illya had a Sam moment, when he destroyed things in his hotel room. Part of Illya's reason for destroying
his room had to do with Gaby. The woman he is in love had just left.

I was going to edit my original reply about the part, where Napoleon checked into the hotel, but I will just say what I have to say here. I thought that there were two hotel scene played back to back, but after watching that scene last night, I've noticed that I was wrong. No, Hugh and Henry are not built alike and although their hair was kind of combed alike, they are different. When, I've first seen that scene, I've later played it more than once, because I thought that it was two scenes in one. The hotel clerk welcomed Hugh's character as Mr. Waverly and Henry's character by his fake name Mr. Devenery(sp?) that is why I thought it was two scenes in one. The name sounded alike.

I liked how Illya told Gaby that her new boyfriend was a nazi and that it's not going to happen, when she tells Napoleon that the driver was trying to steal her from her fiance and when she tells him that he's not really her fiance. Illya had claimed Gabby. : ), why don't heroine listen to what the hero is telling them the first time?

I think we liked a lot of the same moments, Arch. I didn't expect to be drawn in by Gaby and Illya as much as I was. They stole the movie away from Henry Cavill, and that's saying something. I also just thought it was a fun movie. I root for a sequel.

I thought a BBC Tv show woukd be good Danielleand little did I know the original was a tv show. Henry does not do anything for me. They should do a part 2.
