That's all I have to say right now. Swoon..

This.

I am also loving Feyre dealing with depression and PTSD. As someone who struggles with mental health issues, her habits - over sleeping, avoidance of hobbies that she used to love, erratic eating behaviours, etc. - this felt realistic and fleshed out to me, considering what she did go through Under the Mountain.

Right? Like, ACOTAR set off warning bells. But this is downright abusive.

I completely agree! A huge problem I had with the first like 90% of ACOTAR was that Fayre made almost no decisions for herself. And it looks like that's changing!

pg 29: Lucien urged Feyre to TALK to Tamlin. My reaction was 'YES PLEASE DO!! COMMUNICATION IS KEY TO EVERYTHING'. And I figured that Feyre would just ignore the advice as that whole trope goes. Now at the end of chapter 13, I feel like it wouldn't matter if she tried to talk things out with Tamlin, as the conversation would only be one sided....Tamlin doesn't like to share is feelings. Brat!
pg 56: this is my favourtie part of the book. One of the big things that bothered my about Feyre, was that she couldn't read. Come on, you have a Beauty and the Beast retelling and Beauty can't read, it's like blasphemy.
pg 99-102: Major RED flag city here. Everything that came out of Tamlin's mouth was a red flag, "I'll try and be better', I just can't control it, the anger, I'm sorry...." etc. Honestly I haven't been getting the temper rage vibe from him, but there are plenty of other ways to be abusive....like Locking Feyre in the 'house'.
Overall, I'm enjoying the character growth that we are getting from Feyre, the fact that she acknowledges that she is indeed different from when she was Under the Mountain and she died and came back different.
I love the fact that Rhys, from what we can see, is concerned for her well being, and wants to build her up and make her strong. Whether he had other motives is to be seen. But I would choose him over Tamlin any day.
Tamlin, Lucien and Ianthe all seem like blah characters. Though I'm pegging Ianthe to be a coneiving backstabber at some point. I also wish we could see more character from Lucien.
Tamlin still seems like a surface character. We hear from Feyre that he has been going through some PTSD crap too, but we don't really see it other then his super needy need to protect Feyre as an object really.
ok...that's all I have to say for the first 13 chapters....

eta: I feel that Tamlin & Lucien's friendship is toxic."
I feel like there is little friendship here....Lucien serves his High Lord to a fault

Heartbreakingly true.

Just finished chapter 13, and yeah I'm viewing their relationship as toxic too, but I never really liked Tamlin so it's actually refreshing in a way. Intrigued so much by Rhys, of course!
