Bookopoly: How to Play:

- This game will run from June-December, 2016.

- Click on the graphic of the board to see a larger version. Thanks to Holly for making it look amazing!

- A text version of the board is also available below, with explanations for each square.

- Roll 2 dice to move around the board. You can use regular or electronic dice. Click here for electronic dice.

- Read a book for the genre, category, or theme of the square you land on before rolling again.

- Designate a shelf that you will read from for the game. The books on this shelf should be fairly readily available to you. It can be any shelf, but it should have at least 20 books on it.

- Choose books for each turn from your designated shelf if you can.

- If you don't have a book on your shelf that fits the category, you can go outside the shelf. If you need ideas, ask in the game thread.

- If you land on a "Partner Pick" square, request in the game thread for someone to choose a book for you to read. You can request for up to 3 books to choose from. Also post the link to your shelf to make it easy to find.

- Announce your moves and track your game in the Bookopoly Game Thread.

- One round is complete when you pass GO. You can play as many times as you like.

Railroad - Travel Ahead: A book set in the future
Orange - Genre: YA, Middle Grade, or Children's
Partner Pick - Read a book chosen from your shelf by another player
Orange - Genre: Mystery
Orange - Genre: Historical Fiction

Red - Category: A book that has been made into a movie
Chance - Sort your shelf by "Random" and read the first book
Red - Category: The book from your shelf with the highest average rating

Yellow - Theme: Good vs. evil
Yellow - Theme: Social Issues

Just finished The Solomon Curse. Rolled another 7, will be reading a book that is part of a series. One the book I just read was also good for! Oh well....

My first roll landed on Non-fiction which is probably the worst spot on the board for me. I normally avoid non-fiction like the plague but I have to admit i'm enjoying the book I found to read so thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone.

I'm glad it's working out for you, Clare. That would also be my most dreaded space to land on, lol.

I lost this thread and finally found it again! Added it to my spreadsheet to keep track of challenges and the books for them so maybe I won't get so sidetracked again.

Soooo many challenges.

I have finished my movie adaptation book, Paper Towns by John Green. I rolled an 8. Now lookingfor some coming of age book.

I would highly recommend "Bittersweet" by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore. I chose it for my book club and we all enjoyed it very much!

Can I play until it ends

I would like to play until it ends as well, if its ok.

Of course! The journey is what really matters on this one.
