Paula P | 48 comments This book is the story the autoher and her husband of the time they spent living in the small isolated village of Salle, which is almost completely untouched by western civilisation, in Kathmandu, to teach English.

it looks at their struggles with altitude sickness, severely restricted diet, and close encounters with wild tigers. we see their attempts to teach English to a group of lively youngsters in a wooden hut, using blackboard and chalk, but without the benefit of electricity, water or toilet.

It is often a laugh out loud read and very entertaining. I certainly wouldnt have picked this up had it not been for this challenge, but I am glad I did. It was only a short read but I noticed that there are more in the series so they are also now on my 'to read' list
