Everybody's pickin' up books now and then...
So tell us: what'd YOU buy?

Today, I myself picked up Ocean Vuong's "Night Sky With Exit Wounds", at Unnameable Books here in Brooklyn.

I picked up The Confessions of Nat Turner so I can have it ready before a movie comes out in October. the book and movie are not related but I wanted something good to read.

I just read "Night Sky With Exit Wounds"! My faves in the collection were Telemachus and To My Father / To My Unborn Son. With poetry collections, I noticed that it really helps to know something about the author's background in order to put their work into context. I highly recommend the author interview in divedapper.com if you haven't read it already.

As for me, I recently picked up "Human Acts" by Han Kang. I really liked "The Vegetarian" so I'm keen to read more of her work. The translator is also the same and what I loved most about The Vegetarian was the beautifully restrained language. Needless to say, I can't wait to read it.

I bought Each Vagabond by Name and Maud's Line on Kindle and a slew of used books on Abe's Books including all of Kent Haruf's books, The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurtry, Home and Lila by Marilynne Robinson, Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee, City of Thieves by David Benioff, and How Green Was My Valley by Richard Llewellyn.

I just bought Spill Simmer Falter Wither based on the glowing recommendation from the podcast. I'm very excited to dive into it over the holiday weekend!

I've been reading too many library books, though. My shelves feel neglected.

I just bought Dead Boys, The Library at Mount Char, The Devil's Detective, Jazz Moon, and Saga Vol 6.

Bought some books for the alt.tob - The Core of the Sun and Not Dark Yet.

Haven't brought anything home in a few weeks, but I did pre-order Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad.

I just bought a stack of latest books by authors whose books I must own and display on my shelves--and read eventually of course! I bought the latest by Danielewski, Eggers, and DeLillo. I'm the most psyched for the Eggers, though. Danielewski I have to gear up for because I know my brains will get scrambled, in a pleasant way, of course.
