Have fun with your reading!

Bill Enjoy your challenge. I've only read The Number One Ladies' Detective Agency and enjoyed very much. I have read some of the other authors though. It looks like a nice mix.

J. L. Parker (jlparker15) | 31 comments Thanks Bill. I have already started on The No. 1 Ladies detective agency. I haven't read most of the authors in here. Hope they are good.

John Matsui (johnmatsui) | 5 comments I've read six on your list.
I give top marks to all but Mr. Mercedes even though I am a fervent S. King fan. I loved the Bourne series by Ludlum but watch out for style change after Ludlum's death and Eric Van Lustbader takes over. Van Lustbader is a fine writer but in my mind Bourne doesn't have the same feel.
-The Hard Way by Lee Child (Jack Reacher #10)

- NYPD Red 2 by James Patterson (NYPD Red #2)

- The Bourne Supremacy by Robert Ludlum (Jason Bourne #1)

- The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith (The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency #1)

- Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (Mystery & Thriller)

- Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King

Good luck. I'd appreciate hearing how folks felt about the ones I missed. Need to focus on some good reads.

J. L. Parker (jlparker15) | 31 comments The Bat by Jo Nesbo fell short on my expectations. It was a slow read and in most of the book nothing really happened. There weren't any real stakes until the very end and even that was short lived. I had high hopes for this one but its time to move on and pursue a better writer.

John Matsui (johnmatsui) | 5 comments I'm hesitant to try books by Richard Castle. I loved the TV series but the idea of a fictional writer from a TV series writing fiction for us? I bought Heat Rises at a used bookstore more than a year ago but never cracked it open. I kinda figured it was just a gimmick to promote the TV series. I'm intrigued that Frozen Heat made the list. Any thoughts on Castle's works?

I've read a couple of Nesbo's books and enjoyed them. I'll have to take another off my shelf and see if I still do.
